Garth Stene
1944 – 2018
Garth was born on May 15, 1944 in Prince Albert, SK and he passed away peacefully on December 28, 2018, after a brief battle with cancer. Garth will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his family: his children Theresa and Jason (Leslie); his grandchildren Connor (Amanda), Sarah (Marina), Luke, Jordan, Shelby and Heidi; the mother of his children: Debbie Nelson; his siblings Ray (Marian) Stene and Eileen (Gillis) Bru: his special friend Donna Rode, Sadie, and numerous nieces and nephews, and many good friends. Garth is predeceased by his parents Clarence Elmer and Amy (Seymour), his brothers Allan, Floyd, and nephew Carlisle and close friend Barry Hugo.
Garth spent his childhood on their homestead in Deer Ridge. After a long career operating heavy equipment and driving truck, he pursued his passion for the outdoors working as a professional fishing/hunting guide, cook, wrangler in various remote locations across northern Canada.
There will be a Celebration of Life that will be held for Garth on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. from the Shellbrook Community Hall (formerly Elks Hall).
In lieu of tributes, memorial donations may be made in memory of Garth to the Shellbrook & Districts Health Services Foundation (Box 1065 Shellbrook, SK S0J 2E0).
