The family of Garry Oscar Storey announce his passing on September 12, 2020, at Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon. Garry was born in Prince Albert on August 7, 1942. He was a very honest, hard-working and humble family man. On August 6, 1965, he married the love of his life, his best friend and soulmate, Jean Storey, whom he frequently referred to as “Jeannie My Love”. They were happily married for 55 years and their love will live on forever.
Garry worked for Thorpe Brothers for fourteen years, D.N.S. for two years, Century Mechanical for two years and for Cameco (at Key Lake) for the last 20 years prior to retiring. He taught his children to never brag or boast, to work for what they wanted in life, to have respect for their elders, as well as animals and personal property. He firmly believed that if you borrowed anything from anyone, that you should return it in the same shape that you had received it in.
Garry loved fishing, hunting, quadding, skidooing, water skiing and target practise with numerous family members and close friends. Garry was a long-time member of the Wildlife Federation and he also enjoyed making his own bullets and watching birds. Garry loved the outdoors and when was quadding through the bush by himself he would remark that it made him feel close to God. He spent a lot of time on the McDowell family farm, and the lake where he loved and enjoyed being with his family. He had may camping adventures and road trips to be with family. As well, Garry loved animals and his dogs were often his quadding companions. Garry’s last fishing trip was on Labor Day weekend of this year, he made many lasting memories and said it was the best holiday ever. He was very proud that they had finally found a mine that his dad (Gilbert Storey) and his brother (Ken Storey) had both worked at over 60 years ago, a dream come true! Garry wanted their family camping expeditions to become a yearly tradition. He felt that he was treated like a king by his family ad loved every minute of it. The family would like to sincerely thank each and every one of you who made this trip so special for him.
Garry is survived by his wife, Jean Storey; his children, Irene (Stephen) Norman and son Justin (Erica) Storey and their children Bella and Lincoln; Louise (Wayne) Storey and daughter Jennifer Storey and children, Morgan, Corbin and Dylan; Lanny Storey and children, Kenzie, Jaxen and Masen.
