Garry Wayne Mancini
It is with great sadness we announce the unexpected passing of Garry on December 29, 2024, at the age of 65 years.
Garry is survived by his siblings, Randy (Gail) of Christopher Lake, SK, and children Stephanie and Courtney; Darcy (Julie) of Calgary, AB, and children Andrew and Jeslyn; Janet (Pete) of Christopher Lake, SK, Carla of Calgary, AB; his sister-in-law, Debbie, and children Jason and Nicole; as well as numerous other relatives. He was predeceased by his parents, Anthony and Audrey; and his brother, Terry.
Garry was born in Calgary, AB and was always a happy go lucky person who made friends wherever he went. He started his career operating equipment which led to him becoming a crane operator and truck driver. In 1987 his work with RestoTec took him to Vancouver, where his co-workers became like family to him and remained so for the duration of his life. Garry moved to Christopher Lake in 2003 to be closer to family and work alongside his brother-in-law, Pete and sister Janet. Garry loved operating the crane for log home package delivery and set ups and was most proud of the one for his brother Randy (Gail). He loved the experience of working with his family and remained a dedicated, loyal, hard worker who developed long lasting friendships wherever he was. As his job changed to part-time he became a truck driver with the Home Building Center and when the company closed he joined the Co-op Building Centre, working there until his passing. The Co-op team, suppliers and customers allowed Garry to create life-long friendships. We are thankful to them for always treating Garry so well, which he readily shared with us with a smile.
Garry enjoyed a simple life and his passions outside of work included time at the lake fishing with friends or in peaceful solitude, always sure to send photos of his “catch of the day”! He could be found on the golf course with his good friends, tending to his garden and house plants, or taking on wood projects. He was most happy spending time with family and his wonderful neighbors and friends. Recently he enjoyed trips to Calgary to visit Darcy and Carla and friends, and to Vancouver to see some dear friends.
Our family will be thinking of all those close to Garry who share our pain. We love you Garry and you will forever remain in our hearts. We will always feel your smile.
In keeping with Garry’s wishes a private family gathering will be held at a later date. In lieu of other tributes, donations in memory of Garry may be made to the Prince Albert Wildlife Federation, Box 808, Prince Albert, SK, S6V 5S4.
