Today we lost a loving husband, father, and grandfather. It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Gale Orlan Head, Late of Prince Albert, SK on November 29th, 2022, at the age of 79 years. Gale was born on June 20th, 1943, to Samuel and Florence Head (Turgeon) in Prince Albert, SK. Gale resided in Prince Albert for a long portion of his life, and this is where he met his loving wife and best friend Sharon.
Gale was a very hard worker who accomplished a lot obtaining his Red Seal certificate as a sheet metal worker while he was employed with Thorpe Brothers then in 1974, he chooses a career move to Saskatchewan Penitentiary, where he retired in 1995. Gale’s famous saying was always “I’m a jack of all trades but a master of one” but anyone who ever knew of his work knew how particular he was, and he was a master of many trades.
Throughout his life, Gale met many people, and he was always willing to lend a helping hand. He had the willingness to provide large amounts of knowledge. Gale coached the East Hill girls’ ball team for many years, and spent many hours, countless hours teaching his own girls how to throw a ball straight and how to hit your mark. He gave countless hours to ensure kids could play the sports they loved. He was very supportive of his girls and grandchildren’s sports, making sure they never missed a practice or game. Gale was their biggest fan and cheerleader.
Gale thoroughly loved spending endless hours fishing in his boat at Weyakwin Lake. Where he loved being at the cabin and one with nature. He also enjoyed spending time gardening and growing vegetables. He was very proud to share his gardening tips and tricks.
Gale enjoyed playing ball and enjoyed a good game of volleyball, tennis, and badminton. At times he would get out for a round of golf.
Gale is survived by his wife of 55 years Sharon; his daughters Terra and Shauna (Reg); his grandchildren Dempsie, Keaton, Kaidyn, & Grady; all of whom he adored dearly and is very proud of what they have accomplished; his sister Linda; his sisters-in-law Donna (Denis) & family, Shelley (Bill) & family.
Gale was predeceased by his parents Samuel and Florence (Turgeon) Head; his sisters Gwen and Donna; & his parents-in-law Cyril & Rose Mullis.
As per Gale’s final wishes, there will be no service, so please take a few minutes to remember him with a cold rye on your deck, while he enjoys his time soaring with the eagles.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that a donation be made in Gale’s name to the Saskatchewan Lung Association at 2308 Arlington Ave, Saskatoon, SK S7K 3L3 or The Arthritis Society of Saskatchewan 393 University Avenue, Suite 1700, Toronto, ON M5G 1E6.
