With extremely heavy hearts we announce the passing of our dear mother, Frieda Diane St. Germain “Fred” on Monday, March 15, 2021, at the age of 66 years. She fought a long courageous battle with COPD, and her fight sadly came to an end peacefully in her home with her loving family by her side, the way she wanted.
Mom was born on Friday, September 17, 1954, and raised in Duck Lake, SK. She was one of the oldest of 13 children. She was a very proud mother, grandmother/Nana and great-grandmother. She is survived by her four children, Michelle (Kim), Darren (April), Crystal (Justin) and Chris (Renee); her grandchildren, Jesse, Dylan, Tristan (Gwenyth), Erika (Jared), Kyle, Keegan, Kaleb, Kannin, Synea, Kyler, Syra, Madison, Mackenzie, Kadence, Brooke, Keianna, Brylee, Kimberly (Kalyn), Kristina, Devery, Jordan; her great-grandchildren, Trinity, Aniika, Callie, Raenna, Rhylie, Sophie, Nova, Hailey and Cameron; her siblings, Gerald, Kenny, Larry (Irene), Randy (Debbie), Dewayne (Charmaine), Ronnie (Ruby), Gary (Tena), Sheila, Sharon, all their children; numerous great-nieces and nephews, and extended family members.
She was predeceased by her loving parents, Emery & Alida St. Germain; her siblings, Shirley, Diane St. Germain, and Dennis Parenteau; her grandparents, Jean Baptiste & Louise Parenteau, Joseph & Margaret St. Germain.
Frieda spent a lot of her childhood with her grandma and her brother, Dennis, in Duck Lake, SK. Before moving to Prince Albert when she was five, where she attended school at St. Michaels, St. Johns, and then the Academy, finally graduating from St. Mary’s High School in 1972. She spent her younger years traveling across Canada, but then finally she settled down in 1976 and started her family. Mom worked at Wings Café, WK, Freckles and Humpty’s, which was her last place of employment. She was there for over 18 years where she started her battle with COPD. Mom was a “mom” to more than just her own kids and always welcomed everyone in her home whether you were just stopping in to say hi, have a drink or a meal. Mom loved to spend time with her grandchildren, they lit up her world.
We would like to thank Palliative Home Care, Dr. Alara and Dr. Gouda for all their support, care and compassion. There will be a Private Family Viewing on Friday, March 19, 2021, and a Private Family Service at 10:00 a.m., on Saturday March 20, 2021, with interment to follow at St. Laurent Shrine, we’re bringing mom home.
