BALONE – It is with profound sadness that the family announces the sudden passing of Fred Balone at his home in prince Albert, SK on June 8, 2013. Fred was born on July 26, 1958 in Wakaw. SK. Fred completed high school in Wakaw, and later attended SIAST Institute in Saskatoon where he received his Registered Nurse Certificate. His nursing career spanned over thirty years in Prince Albert (Holy Family and Victoria hospitals) as well as Northern Saskatchewan. He was a very dedicated nurse and caregiver with a very keen interest in gaining knowledge and expertise in each ailment and treatment that he came upon. Fred loved to build, fix and fabricate building many a shed and deck. Wakaw Lake was his home for most summers where he would putter and collect, recycling everything he could. Home and family were very important to him. He was extremely proud of his children and so proud of his new grandson. We will all miss his frequent visits and the extra spirit he possessed. His deep faith and trust in God carried him though many of life’s challenges. Fred is survived by his children: Tyler, Saskatoon, SK; Clayton (Kristy) and Gage, Saskatoon, SK; Holly (Paul) McCorriston, Moose Jaw, SK as well as Claire Balone, Prince Albert, SK the mother of his children. He is also survived by brothers Ed (Fern), Don (Yvonne), Miles (Donna); sisters Gail, Bev (John) Cholowsky, and Eden as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents Metro and Anne Balone, grandparents and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. The Funeral Service will be held at the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus Ukrainian Catholic Church in Wakaw, on Friday, June 21, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Fr. Mykola Romanets officiating. Interment will follow in the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery. Donations in memory of Fred may be directed to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus Ukrainian Catholic Church, Wakaw, SK.
