Frank Zbaraschuk
(August 27, 1916 – October 28, 2011)
It is with sadness the family of Frank Zbaraschuk announces his passing on Friday, October 28, 2011 at the age of 95 years. Frank will be forever loved and remembered by his loving wife Mary of 69 years, his children Wallace, (Sharon), Gerald (Madeleine), Janet (Ray Wight), Barry (Valerie), Franklin (Patricia), twelve grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Frank was predeceased by an infant son, daughter-in-law, great-granddaughter, parents and brothers.
Frank was born August 27, 1916 at Honeymoon, SK. He lived & worked on the family farm until his marriage on October 30, 1941 to Mary Karpish. After several years dad and mom took over the Zbaraschuk family homestead where they raised their five children. Frank loved the land, and while it presented many challenges and hardships, he worked very hard to ensure his family was well provided for.
In 1977 they sold the farm to Gerald & Madeleine and moved to Prince Albert. Knowing the farm was being retained within his family made Frank’s transition to retirement much easier. Dad was a quiet, soft-spoken man; he loved his family and enjoyed the many get togethers. He also took great pride in his yard and garden.
Frank enjoyed reading, especially about history; he liked all sports and was a P.A. Raider season ticket holder for twenty years. He liked to travel and over the years, visited numerous places, the highlight was a trip to Europe in 1995, which included Poland, where he met for the first time many of his Zbaraschuk relatives.
It is the family’s request that those wishing to place memorials do so to the Mont St. Joseph Foundation – 777 – 28th Street East, S6V 8C2. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 1 from River Park Memorial Chapel – 301 River Street West. Deacon Eldon Danielson, Director of Spiritual Care, Mont St. Joseph Home will officiate. Interment will take place at the Honeymoon Cemetery.
Family and friends may send email condolences to www.riverparkfuneral.ca. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Lesley Sully – Funeral Director.
