Frank H. Mills, late of Prince Albert, SK, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2020 at the age of 92.
Frank was born on June 20, 1927 in Turtleford, SK. He grew up on the family farm near Fairholme. In his younger years he worked at various jobs, including a coal mine near East Coulee. Frank then settled in Prince Albert where his parents lived and started working at City Cartage. He then started his long career with CP Express in 1954, which later became Kindersley Transport.
In 1948 Frank met the love of his life Jean Melnychuk, and they married in 1950. Together they raised their two sons, Larry and Glenn. Many summer weekends were spent up at Waskesiu when the boys were young, and many fishing tales arose from fishing trips to the Heart and Crean Lakes. In 1976, Frank and Jean jumped on the opportunity to build a cabin up at Weyakwin Lake. With their sons’ help, they built a family cabin. For many years, they enjoyed fishing and relaxing up at the lake. Frank took a lot of pride in maintaining the yard around his cabin. When grandchildren came along, he always enjoyed having them come up and spend time there. Up until last summer, they still enjoyed trips up to their cabin.
Left to mourn his passing is his wife Jean; their son, Larry (Wendy), granddaughter Krista Mills (Brad McCaw) and great grandson Logan Malden; their son Glenn (Rita) and granddaughters Julie Mills and Ashley Mills; sisters-in-law Rose Kardynal, Barb Melnychuk, and Hilma Melnychuk; and brother-in-law John (Pat) Melnychuk.
Frank was predeceased by his parents Frank and Olive (nee Fanstone); brothers Gordon and Ronald (Rita); sister Eileen (Tom) Kykkanen; and his brothers-in-law Andy Melnychuk and Nick Kardynal.
A private family Celebration of Frank’s Life will be held.
