Jim's family are deeply saddened to announce his peaceful passing at the age of 87 on Sunday, February 2, 2014 at Mont St. Joseph care facility in Prince Albert SK. Jim was born May 22, 1926 in Prince Albert SK. He leaves to mourn his wife and sweetheart of 60 years Ethel; his sons Wyett (Janelle) and Dewell (Shannon); granddaughters Dee and Shea; his sister Jean (Harold Gear); brothers Hugh (Joan) and Richard; his lifelong friend and helper Frank Mandeville, his many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbours. Jim’s parents Frank and Ruby Meyers were from Texas and homesteaded in the Weirdale area. Jim’s dad Frank died when Jim was 12 years old. He was sent to his grandparents in Happy, Texas and attended high school. He returned to SK and wanted to farm, times were tough so he logged in the winter and later worked on oil rigs to get his start. He met Ethel (Briscoe) and found his true love and they were married in June 1953. Jim loved farming and everything associated with it. He was a delegate for the Sask Wheat Pool and served on the local AG-board for many years. He was a seed grower and started and operated a farm supply business. He served the community through various committee's and associations, school board member (20 years). Jim and Ethel were seldom apart be it work, play, hardship or joy. Jim truly loved life he never gave up and never complained. The family would like to thank the staff at the Mont St. Joseph care facility for all the care and compassion shown to Jim over the last year. A private family service will be held.
