It is with deepest sadness the family of Francis Olde (nee Korycki) announce her passing gently and peacefully into the loving arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ at the Herb Bassett Home on Wednesday April 22, 2015 at the age of 98. Mom was born on September 17, 1916 in Prince Albert and grew up on a farm at Honeymoon. She was the youngest of seven children born to Barbara & Mark Korycki. Her childhood involved attending school until Grade 6 one and a half miles from home, doing household chores which included cooking, cleaning & gardening. She married Tony Olde on June 26, 1932 and they farmed in the Cloverdale district. Three children were born to this union which included Louis, Alexander (who died at birth) & Eileen. She was a faithful farmer’s wife who worked very hard alongside her husband milking cows, feeding large threshing crews, planting big gardens, preserving jars & jars of jams, fruits, pickles & chickens. Moving from the farm to the city in the early 1960’s made life a lot easier. She loved embroidering, picking mushrooms and berries of all varieties and visiting with family and friends. Her favorite saying was “you gotta do what you gotta do”, always looking forward and very rarely complaining. As she aged her favorite pastime was playing cards and Mae Wasyliw can testify to that. She was always interested as to how family were doing and visiting with them whenever possible. She endured many hardships in life and taught us how to be strong, courageous and forgive those who wronged us. Her motto was to make the best of life by accepting challenges graciously. The past three and a half years were spent at Lakeland Trail Herb Bassett Home where the staff cared for her in a most gracious manner. She is survived by her loving family: son Louis Olde (Anita); her daughter Eileen (Errol) Wawryk; her daughter-in-law, Sophie Olde; four grandsons: Raymond (Brenda) Olde of Nipawin, SK; Stephen (Wendy) Olde & Shaun Wawryk of PA; Dwayne (Fay) Olde of Calgary, AB; two granddaughters: Monica (Robin) Benoit of Fort Saskatchewan, AB; and Dione Wawryk of PA. Also thirteen great-grandchildren: Colleen Schopp, Shona Breckenridge, Michelle, Ryan, Brittany, Kayla & Chelsea Olde, Akiva Wawryk, Bretlyn, Blaze and Chaylene Polischuk and Evan and Eric Benoit. As well as eight great-great grandchildren: Brandon, Cameron and Sierra Schopp, Dane, Chantel and Shawn Breckenridge, Nicolas Olde/Young and Bently Polischuk. Mom was predeceased by her husband Tony Olde; son Alexander; grand-daughter-in-law Charlotte Olde; parents Mark Korycki, Barbara Korycki Listwan; stepdad Mike Listwan; brothers & sisters-in-laws; John (Josephine) Korecki; Phillip (Sophie) Korycki; Walter (Emily) Korycki, Frank Korycki, Peter (Zinnia) Korycki, and sister Annie (Alex) Stocki. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, April 27, 2015 at 10:30 am at St. Mark’s Roman Catholic Church 589 – 9th Street East, Prince Albert, SK with Celebrant Reverend Father Travis Myrheim. Interment will be held at Prince Albert Memorial Gardens. In lieu of other tributes, memorial donations may be made to the Herb Bassett Home, 1200 – 24th Street West, Prince Albert, SK S6V 4N9. Death is A Doorway
On the Wings of Death”
The “Soul takes Flight”
Into the land where
“There is No Night”
For those who believe
What the Saviour said
Will rise in glory
Though they be dead….
So death comes to us
Just to”Open the Door”
To the Kingdom of God
And Live Evermore.
