It is with profound sadness and very heavy hearts that the family of Francine Peggy McKnight announces her passing on August 9th, 2021, at the young age of 45 years. Francine was born on May 6th, 1976, to Sam and Blandine McKnight. Francine was the youngest of five children as well as the only girl. Francine’s mother was determined to have a blessed gift of a daughter and continued trying until she was born. Francine was cherished by her mother who cared for her every need. Later in life, Francine was able to repay her mother by putting her own life aside and caring for her mother when she became ill. Growing up with four brothers made Francine strong and very stubborn, which only complimented her extremely caring personality.
Francine was very passionate about helping others and was a caregiver through and through. Francine’s long career in nursing also spoke volumes as to the kind and gentle-hearted person she was. Even in Francine’s darkest days, she thought not about herself but about the people who surrounded her and if there was anything she could do for them.
Francine enjoyed crafts. Whether it was going to Michaels to get whatever she needed to make something beautiful or buying an item second-hand and turning it into something amazing. Most of these items were given to the people she loved.
Francine struggled with health-related issues from a very young age. Her struggles became a lot stronger in 2007. Francine spent many years fighting an illness that not even her doctors could figure out. When she was finally given a proper diagnosis, it gave her some comfort as well as hope and vindication. Francine’s strength and determination are absolutely admired by those close to her and we believe that it’s safe to say that there are not many people in this world who could go through what she has and still be the comedian she thought she was right to the end. Francine’s sense of humor was indescribable. She always enjoyed a laugh and share her optimism with the people around her.
Francine’s greatest protector goes by the name of Thomas. Thomas would meet you at the door and made sure you stayed right there. Many people over the years have had run-ins with Thomas and many people lost including Francine herself. However, it didn’t matter how many times she got mad at that darn cat, it was still her Thomas. Francine’s oldest brother has been blessed by Francine to be Thomas’s caregiver and words cannot express how thankful she was to him for that.
During Francine’s life, she was surrounded by very special friends. These people all played a huge role in Francine’s life, and we know how very much she treasured each and every one of them.
Kate, words cannot express how much your time and energy spent away from your family meant to Francine and her whole family. People like you are very few and far between. Francine was very lucky to have you. “Just Keep Swimming” seems appropriate here.
Tara, the time you spent with Francine driving to appointments, sitting in the vehicle and the many sleepovers will never be forgotten. Thank you so much for your many sacrifices. “Tara, Tara are you sleeping?’ this we cannot guarantee you will not hear in your mind for years to come.
Carmen, your friendship with Francine is priceless. You came into her life at a time when she needed you the most and provided her so much support. For this, we will always be grateful, and please never forget how much you meant to Francine.
Mary, the unconditional bond that you and Francine shared is one that people can only dream of. Francine was blessed to have you be a part of her life for so many years. Even though hundreds of kilometers separated the two of you, it never weakened the bond. The time that you spent together recently was so cherished by Francine and we want you to remember she loved you dearly.
Candace, you were there for Francine when she needed you the most in many ways. The distance you two were apart never stopped you from helping in every way you could. Your long drive recently meant a lot to Francine and her family, and we would like to personally Thank You.
Last but not least, Art. Your friendship meant so much to Francine. The time you spent together will always be valued and will never be forgotten. When Francine needed something, you were always more than willing to be there for her. Thank You.
Francine’s family meant everything to her, and she loved each and every one of them. Family was Francine’s heart and soul. It shaped her into the incredible person she was. Francine loved her beautiful nieces and nephews so much and enjoyed watching them grow into the strong, independent individuals that they are today. The family would also like to say a special Thank You to the nurses from Home Care and to the nurses on Level 5 who provided Francine with such exceptional care.
Francine will be lovingly remembered by her mother Blandine McKnight; Her brothers Jerry (Agnes), George (Crystal), Keith (Cecile), & Samuel; Her nieces & nephews Jordain (Winston & Willow), Damian, Kiarra (Ashton), Kalista (Thomas), Kashton, Alex, Kassidy, Jazmyn, Taziana, Justina, Joshua, Jairus, Jarah & Jayda; Her loyal four-legged fur baby Sir Thomas; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins & friends.
Francine was predeceased by her father Samuel McKnight; Her grandparents Samuel (Peggy) McKnight, Ernest (Monique) Daigneault; Her four-legged friend Bentley, as well as numerous aunts & uncles.
