Frances Murray
1925 ~ 2026
It is with saddened hearts that the family of Frances Murray announce her passing on January 3, 2026, in Prince Albert. Fran was born January 25, 1925, to Dan and Anne Porayko in RM of St. Clements, Manitoba and grew up at Traverse Bay. She was the 2nd child of 6, she had 2 brothers and 3 sisters.
Fran liked to spend time outdoors, she loved to go camping, spending time in the garden or flower beds. She sewed many of her kid’s clothes and liked knitting as well. We loved her perogies but you never knew what you would find in her Rice Krispie cake. She liked to travel and drove through the western provinces many times to see friends and family. She was artistic too; she created many Bunka Art pictures for her family before her arthritis got too bad. Fran kept a clean home and worked as a caregiver and housekeeper before she retired. Her children fondly remember spending summers in Manitoba with Fran and all of the cousins.
Frances is survived by her loving family, her children, Joanne Barrett, Lance Nicols, Carol Smith (Charles), Vern Holland (Judy), Kevin Murray (Glenda); her grandchildren, Brent Barrett (Margo) – Lucas & Max; Greg Barrett (Jessica) – Annouk, Parker & Orion; Sherry Bishop (Geoff) – Alex & Julie; Amber Kirkland (Devon) – Ella & Aaron; Natasha Rusnak (Adam) – Jada & McKenna; Nicholas Murray (Larae Holmes).
She was predeceased by her parents, Dan and Anne Porayko; her son, Ray Holland; her son-in-law, Gordon Barrett; her daughter-in-law, Judy Nicols; her brothers, Mike, John; her sisters, Winnie, Lenore (Jean), Marion.
Fran’s family would like to thank the staff at Herb Bassett Home, Golden Hills and Dr. Gordon Surkan for the care she was given during her final years. Fran has requested that no funeral service be held for her. Online condolences may be left at https://www.arbormemorial.ca/en/riverpark/obituaries/frances-murray/154122.html .
