Frances (nee Altstadt) Luebke
1931 ~ 2026
Frances was born on October 14, 1931, in the Donnybrook district and passed away on August 30, 2026, at the Mennonite Nursing Home in Rosthern, Sask. She was the 4th of seven children born to Samuel and Martha Altstadt. The family moved to the Sturgeon River area where she lived and took her schooling until she was 18.
In 1952 she married Bill Luebke from Wild Rose and had two daughters, Joanne in 1953 and Marilyn in 1955. They lived in a small 3 room house in her in-law’s yard until Bill had earned enough money to buy land from Fred Peet in the Briarlea area. They moved there in 1960, fixing up the old house and starting their new life.
Over the years Mom and Dad remodelled the house, making it fully modern and made a wonderful home for the four of us. They lived there for 36 years until Dad passed away from cancer. Mom moved to a condo in Prince Albert where she made many new friends and enjoyed the amenities of city living. She visited and entertained her siblings, nieces and nephews, friends and grandchildren. She lived there for 27 years until her dementia made it impossible for her to be alone. We moved her into Mak Lodge where she remained for several months until a fall and broken hip sent her to a level 4 care home in Rosthern. She lived at the Mennonite Nursing Home for two and a half years until her passing.
Mom is survived by her daughters: Joanne Manz and her daughter Andrea (Ray) Paradis and their children Oakley, Romen, Rosie and Archie; her son Jordan Manz; Marilyn (Dale) Shillington and their son Robin (Alysha) and their children Bryden and Kaysten; and their son Brett (Alyssa) and their children William and Alexander. Her sisters-in-law: Ruth Altstadt and Linda (Roy) McDougall; her brother-in-law Larry Luebke (Carol); and a special niece Sandra (Bob) Lehoux plus numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Bill; her parents; her brothers Martin, Emmeth, Arthur and his wife Mary, and Raymond; her sisters: Irene and husband Edgar Duvall; Eleanor and husband Bob Gayowski; two infant nephews; her nephew Sheldon Duvall; her niece Jean Person, and great niece Kelly Bartley. She was also predeceased by her in-laws Maud and Otto Luebke, brother-in-law Allan Luebke and wife Gert; sisters-in-law Pauline, Shirley, Linda and Ida.
A special thank you to all the staff at the Mennonite Nursing Home and Dr. Little for the wonderful care and compassion they gave Mom during her stay there. They made her smile, laugh and treated her like a queen. And a heartfelt thank you to nurse Charlotte who was with Mom at the end.
