DAVIES, Florence Evelyn (nee Stansfield)
It is will great sadness that her family announces Flo’s passing on October 29, 2010 at the age of 98 years. Flo was born June 22, 1912 in Vernon, BC. At a very young age, her family moved to Red Deer Hill where she spent much of her early life with her family on the farm. Moving to the city in 1957, one of her new activities included caretaking duties at Riverside School alongside her husband, Len. Flo spent countless hours playing the organ at St. Andrews Church, Osborne School Christmas concerts and care homes in Prince Albert as well as volunteering for the Victoria Hospital Foundation by selling tickets. Much time was also devoted to bowling, crafting, traveling and one of her many endeavours, Cameo liquid embroidery where twice she became ‘Cameo Queen’ for top sales in Canada. She was recognized for her involvement in the P.A. Exhibition Association, receiving a lifetime membership. Win or lose, nothing gave Flo more enjoyment that frequent games of cards with her cherished family and friends, and she remained a sharp crib player right up until her passing. Predeceased by her parents, John & Annie Stansfield; 5 sisters; 1 brother; her beloved husband, Len in 1971; great grandson Austin Zerbin in 1997. Flo is survived by 2 sons Maxwell (Doreen) and John (Marilyn); 5 grandchildren Cindy (Brad) Garneau, Ken Davies, Debbie (Terry) Zerbin, Brad (Tammy) Davies and Brent (Cherianne) Davies, along with 8 great grandchildren Cole, Devin, Courtney, Kelsea, Kyla, Zachary, Rebecca and Trista. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Flo’s greatest pleasure was the time she spent with friends and loved ones – she will live on in our hearts with the many special memories she gave us.
