December 22, 1935 – November 2, 2025
Florence Gutsch was born into the large John and Victorine Smith Family on December 22, 1935, in Dorval, SK. Upon completing her education, Florence gained employment with the Prince Albert Sanatorium. Her next move was to the Holy Family Hospital, where she was employed until her retirement.
On September 29, 1962, she married her love, Harry. A union which lasted 59 years till his death in March 2021. Together with her son Brian, they split their time between their residence in Prince Albert and their cottage in Candle Lake.
Florence was an avid curler in her younger years, while enjoying most of the sports her television provided. She also shared Harry’s passion for fishing and hunting. When not engaged in any of these activities, Florence could be found volunteering her time for any of her family members and friends as needed.
Over the years, she developed many friendships that she truly valued to her last day. She also often demonstrated her love of music and especially dancing.
For the past three years, Florence was attended to by the Duck Lake Goodwill Manor, where she related to residents and staff with great joy and affection.
Florence will be lovingly remembered by her son, Briene Smith; siblings, Georgette Pilon, Pauline Hille, Jill (Al) Beschel, Helen (Lawrence) Lanovaz, Lucille Smith, Clifford (Jane) Smith; brother-in-law Herb Gutsch; and sister-in-law Eleanor (Gordon) Summach.
She was predeceased by her husband, Harry Gutsch; parents John and Victorine (Nicholas) Smith; in-laws Alfred and Lydia Gutsch; and numerous siblings and their spouses.
As was her custom, Florence would often salute people with a shot of Fireball, and we can imagine that she is doing so right now.
Cheers Flo!
