She is survived by her loving children Clemence (René) Lagimodière of Victoria, BC, Lise Durette (Doug Wicks) of Saskatoon, SK, Aline (Mitch) Vance of Kelowna, BC, Neil (Gloria) Durette of Saskatoon, SK, Leon (Randeen) Durette of Kelowna, BC.
She also leaves behind six cherished grandchildren Marc (Lisa), Daniel (Mia), Lyle (Stephanie), Michelle (Cam), Carleigh (Toby), and Justin (Caitlinn), and ten great-grandchildren, as well as step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. She will also be deeply missed by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and dear friends.
Evelyne was born on March 25, 1932, in Eldred, Saskatchewan, and was raised on the family farm. In 1951, she married the love of her life, Léonide Durette. Together, they built a life rooted in hard work, family, and deep faith, farming at Ferme St. Eloi on the Durette homestead near Victoire until 1967. That year, the family relocated to Prince Albert, where they began a new chapter. Evelyne stayed home raising their children and later worked as a secretary with the Prince Albert Catholic school system, a role she excelled at and cherished for many years.
In retirement, Evelyne and Léonide moved to their beloved home at Morin Lake. Surrounded by family and friends, they enjoyed several peaceful and joyful years there. The next phase of their life together took them to Saskatoon where they met new friends in their new home at the Sierras of Erindale.
Evelyne was a woman of remarkable talents, quiet strength, and profound devotion to her Roman Catholic faith. Prayer was the heartbeat of her daily life; the Rosary was never far from her hands. A lifelong and passionately committed member of the Catholic Women’s League for over 60 years, she embodied the League’s call to holiness through service.
Evelyne had a gift for sewing, quilting, crocheting, knitting, and decorating cakes, skills she shared generously with family and friends. An avid golfer, she spent countless hours on the course, her competitive spirit shining through. She loved playing cards with her friends and family and cherished the company and laughter.
In February 2025, she moved to Kelowna, where she enjoyed her time surrounded by loved ones. The frequent visits from relatives brought her immense joy. Evelyne spent her final months at Lakeview Lodge, where compassionate staff provided exceptional care.
Rest in peace, dear Mom/Mémère.
A funeral will be held at a later date. Details will be announced when finalized.
