July 11, 1934 – Feb 13, 2017
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a “very special lady”, Evelyn Irene Scherle late of Shellbrook formally of Prince Albert at the age of 82. Evelyn was born in Lemberg SK on July 11, 1934 to Michael and Annie Frier. Later while working in Regina she met Irvin Scherle and they married Dec 14, 1955. Together they had four children Rick (Ev) Scherle, Perry (Sandy) Scherle, Darlene (Wally) Olmstead and Diane (Marty) Ruszkowski. Grandchildren Kassandra (Moe) Menhem, Chad, Kyle, Jorden, Alexandra, Kaytlin, Luke and Paige. Great Grandchildren Joshwa, Jadin, Amira and Skyra-Fay. Evelyn is survived by her brother Rudy (Donna-Mae) Frier, sisters- in- law Lorraine Frier and Genevieve Scherle, and a very dear friend Carmen Ruszkowski. After getting married mom followed her love and went up north to be a cook in the camps. Once our family started dad and mom settled their home in Prince Albert. Mom was a loving and devoted homemaker. She was always there for her children and later grandchildren. Mom loved to bowl in the Wednesday afternoon league and was very good at it, accumulating many trophies over the years. After raising her children mom went to work at Canadian Tire and later at Nutter’s for the Christmas season, she always jumped at the chance to be able to eat more sweets. Her weekends and summers were spent where she liked to be most at the family cabin in Emma Lake. She loved sitting by the campfire drinking Labatt’s Lite.
She enjoyed sewing, gardening, canning and even picking the raspberries that were never ending. Mom was happiest when she was with her family. It didn’t matter when you walked into the house there was always the smell of fresh baking, music playing in the background and a puzzle being put together somewhere. Mom really enjoyed listening to music while dancing along to it.
Mom passed away surrounded by the love of her family on Monday Feb 13, 2017. Everyone who knew Evelyn would agree that she was truly a “very special lady” and will be missed dearly by all.
A special thank-you goes to Parkland Integrated Health Facility in Shellbrook where mom spent her last few years. A private family service will be held on a later date. Family and friends wishing to send online condolences are welcome to visit www.beaulacfuneralhome.com. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Beau “Lac” Funeral Home, Lorne Adams, Funeral Director, Prince Albert, SK 306-763-3322.
