October 12, 1937 – January 29, 2016
Evelyn Matilda Seiter was the oldest child of Elsa and Fred Seiter. She was born October 12, 1937 in the Pines of Brightholme. She had a younger brother Ben and a younger sister Lillian Diane. In the spring of 1944, the family moved to the Parkside area. Evelyn attended Parkside School for eight years. In 1954 Evelyn met Ervin Remus. They were married October 13, 1956.
That same year Evelyn’s parents sold their farm and moved to Prince George, BC. For six months Ervin and Evelyn lived on Charlie Dobson’s place, now part of the Leask Golf Course. They then moved in upstairs at Ervin’s parents’ place. This was in 1957-1958 while their house was being built – three miles north and six miles east of Leask. This was where Evelyn and Ervin lived their life together and raised their family. They were blessed with three children. Their first child was their daughter Debbie, followed by their sons Myron and Daryl. Outside of farming, Evelyn and Ervin were active in the community – they devoted time to the Brightholme Grazing Co-op Pasture, the RM, the Leask Lions Club, and the church – Evelyn was involved with the ELW and the Brightholme Cemetery. Sadly, Ervin passed away in 1997. Myron had farmed with his parents and has continued to manage and expand the family farming operation. Evelyn was a wonderful cook. & although she really knew her way around the kitchen, she was no stranger to hard work on the farm – while maintaining a big garden and tending to her many beautiful flowers. & then there was her strong-willed personality – Evelyn was not shy to speak her mind. Yet she had such a good, kind heart and she enjoyed laughing and joking around. Evelyn will be deeply missed.
