Evelyn “Evie” Lee
June 6, 1933 – June 11, 2023
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother and great grandmother on Sunday, June 11th, 2023, at Mont St. Joseph Home, five days after her 90th birthday.
Evelyn “Evie” Carolina Elizabeth Sundholm was born on June 6th, 1933, in Fosston, Saskatchewan to Eric Axel and Mabel (nee Halvorson) Sundholm. Evie grew up third oldest of nine children and was very proud that she was the only girl! Growing up in the 1930’s made Evie appreciative of simple luxuries and thankful for all that she had. Evie was quite sick as a child but her determination, which served her well in her life, helped her overcome this and many other challenges that she faced. As well, Evie loved to listen to music, to sing, and when she was younger, play guitar.
Evie married Sever Edward “Bob” Lee on December 20th, 1954, in Rose Valley, Saskatchewan. They were blessed with two children, Curtis, and Connie. Bob and Evie lived in several communities throughout Saskatchewan, as Bob worked for the Federated Coop, finally making Prince Albert their home in 1967. They enjoyed travelling, going to both England and Spain. Ten years after moving to Prince Albert, Evie lost the love of her life at the age of 44. Evie lived with great independence from this time, keeping the family home until just a few years ago, managing and caring for it on her own. Evie was the sole owner of a house rental company for many years.
Evie was an avid cook, cooking huge family dinners brought her great joy. She loved spending time with family and friends and was always willing to help others in any way she could. Evie loved flowers! Spending time in her flower gardens was her happy place. She really missed her yard when she moved from her home.
After losing Bob to cancer, Evie became a volunteer for the Canadian Cancer Society. She canvased faithfully for many years. Evie received a long-time service award for 25 years of service.
Evie was an active Christian in her life, living with a faith that sustained her in tough times and gave her great joy each day. Evie loved her time at Mont St. Joseph’s and being a part of this faith community under the guidance of Father DJ.
Evie is survived by her two children:
- Curtis (Brenda) Lee, and their children: Melissa Lee-Naicker (Kassigan): Kai, Kaden, Aria and Elena, Ryan Lee; Krista Lee (Brandon Menke); Kendra Banman (James): Leah, Jesse, Eve, and Micah.
- Connie (Dave) McConechy and their children: Megan Borsheim (Erik) and Lukas McConechy (Jenna Sarich).
Evie is also survived by her brothers: Wayne Sundholm (Lorraine), and their children Kristen (Steve), Kim, Erik (Pascale) and families; her brother John Sundholm (Faye) and their children Eric (Melissa) and Elisa (Owen) and families; her brother Grant Sundholm (Llona) and their children Shelly (Tim) and Shayne (Luz). As well, Evie is survived by her sister-in-law, Audrey Sundholm, and her children Shawn, Michael, Denise, and Justin (Sara); and her sister-in-law, Doris Sundholm, and her children Darrel (Wendy), Karen (Kevin), and Marla; and a very special and dear friend, Pauline Beer.
Evie was predeceased by her husband, Bob, in 1978. Evie is also predeceased by her brothers: Dewaine Sundholm, Maynard Sundholm, Marvin Sundholm, Ray Sundholm, and only a few days ago, her oldest brother, Durward Sundholm; as well, a sister-in-law, Irene.
A Service of Remembrance will be held on Friday, June 23rd at 2:00 pm, at the Prince Albert Alliance Church, 2777 6th Avenue West, Prince Albert, SK.
Memorial donations can be made in memory of Evie Lee to the Canadian Cancer Society.
