Eva Michayluk
1956 ~ 2023
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Eva Michayluk (née Perry), who passed away surrounded by loved ones on December 31, 2023, after a lengthy battle with Cancer.
Eva is survived by her daughter, Dot (Darcy); son, Stu (Bronwen); grandchildren, Haley, Rilyn (Hailey), Kaelyn, Brielle, Bella, and Taytum; brothers, Clayton (Louann), Jim, Rick (Joanne), and John (Colette); in-laws, Patricia Boyko and Garnet (Tammy) Michayluk; and many nieces and nephews.
Eva was predeceased by her husband, Darryl; daughter, Angela; her mother, Dorothy Perry; and in-laws, Bill and Elsie Michayluk.
Eva was born in Prince Albert on September 22, 1956. She was raised by her strong single mother along with her four brothers. This environment paved the way to Eva’s no-nonsense demeanor. Eva and Darryl met in high school and soon after began to grow their family. They briefly moved to Sooke, BC, where they eloped, eventually returning to Prince Albert.
Eva worked at Woolco, PAR Industries, and operated a home day care, before starting her 28-year career in the dietary department at the Victoria Hospital. During those years she was a devoted Mom and Grandma attending various sporting events. She retired in 2011 following the death of her husband. Shortly thereafter, Eva was diagnosed with Cancer in 2016.
In the last few years Eva had a fabulous group of friends that enabled her to travel and go to special events. Eva looked forward to the Malanka celebration in Alvena, various shows at the E.A. Rawlinson, the Wheatland Express Train and most of all the marathon Canasta card games with Fay, Dianne, Victoria, Sherry, and Debbie.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Uncle Rick and Auntie Joanne and friend Dianne for taking Mom to the necessary appointments in Prince Albert and Saskatoon for those times we were unable to do so.
Eva spent her last days at the Rose Garden Hospice where she was content and peaceful. The family would like to extend their enormous gratitude to the staff and volunteers of Rose Garden Hospice for their compassion and exceptional level of care during Eva’s final days. In lieu of flowers in Eva’s memory, we kindly request monetary donations be sent to the Rose Garden Hospice in Prince Albert to aid their wonderful facility. By mail to PO Box 2092, 500 38th Street West, Prince Albert, SK S6V 1E0, or their website www.rosegardenhospice.ca .
At Eva’s request, there will not be a formal service. A private celebration of life will take place in the Spring.
