February 21, 1934 – November 11, 2023

Is it with great sadness we announce the passing of Eugene “Gene” Levitsky. Gene passed away peacefully in his sleep at Rose Garden Hospice on November 11, 2023 at the age of 89 after a brief battle with cancer.

Gene is survived by his children: daughter Cathy (Delbert) McNabb and son Mickey (Heidi) Levitsky; grandchildren: Eugene (Stefanie) McNabb, Tristan (Kim) Mathiason, Genna (Rick) Levitsky, Jordan (Mike) Dillabough and Emily White; and great grandchildren: Colton McNabb and Everly Mathiason. Gene is also survived by his special companion, Clara Kutnikoff and family, as well as son-in-law Wes (Pam) Mathiason.

Gene will be greatly missed by his extended families and the many friends he made while trucking (in his retirement years) with his son Mick; while playing horse shoes and traveling across Canada and while doing his favourite thing, playing music. He LOVED music! It was his life, soul and passion. He could play numerous instruments and all by “ear”. Everyone enjoyed listening to Gene, especially the seniors in the nursing homes where they would volunteer to play.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Lecia (Liz) and his daughter, Carol Mathiason. As were his wishes, there will be no formal ceremony but instead a private family gathering to spread his remains with his loved ones that have passed before him.
