Eugene Joseph Lavoie
December 1, 1952 – November 13, 2014
It is with true sadness that we announce the passing of our husband/father/grandfather, Eugene Lavoie, late of Spruce Home, SK formerly of Prince Albert, SK on November 13, 2014. There are many ways to describe Dad and the way that he lived his life, he was our teacher, our champion, our foreman and our friend. Gene was honest, resourceful, passionate, supportive, patient, generous and the true definition of strength; and he brought these qualities into every project, relationship and hardship that he faced. Following in his father’s footsteps, Gene began his career in the carpentry trade and quickly became recognized as the skillful, hardworking and dependable go-to-guy that we all knew. In 1986 he met and then married the woman that changed his life and brought true love and joy into his heart, our mother Vicki. Over their twenty eight years together Mom and Dad explored the world on boats, cars, planes and of course their Harleys. And although Dad loved his fast cars, reno projects and tinkering with toys, the light of his life were his two girls and most especially his three grandchildren. Family was everything to Gene and he will be lovingly remembered by his devoted wife Vicki; his daughters: Jessi (Elliot) Gale and their children Tyson and Katie, and Kellah Lavoie (Joel Anderson) and their son Eli; his brothers and sisters: Lena (Rolly) Tardif, Robert Lavoie, Diane (Terry) Tolley, Leo Lavoie, Wayne (Wendy) Lavoie, Gloria Sabo, and Paul Lavoie (Bill Peterson); and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Gene was predeceased by his father and mother, William and Tryntje Lavoie; his father and mother-in-law, Xie and Mary Unser; his sister-in-law Linda Lavoie, and his brother-in-law Eugene Sabo. We would like to invite you to join us in a Farewell Celebration for Gene on Saturday, November 29, 2014 at 2:00pm at the Spruce Home Activity Centre (on Hwy 2 North of Prince Albert). Private family interment will be held at a later date. Honouring Eugene’s courageous three year battle with cancer, in lieu of flowers, those wishing to make donations in his memory may do so to the Canadian Cancer Society, 54-11th St. E, Prince Albert, SK, S6V 0Z9. Arrangements in care of MacKenzie Chapel & Crematorium. Brian and Bev Stobbs, Funeral Directors. 306.763.8488 www.MacKenzieChapel.ca
