TURCOTTE- Esther (nee Marcotte)
1927 – 2012
Mom passed away peacefully in her sleep at Lakeview Pioneer Lodge in Wakaw, SK on October 20, 2012. She was born on February 10, 1927 in Prud’homme SK, and later raised in Crystal Springs, SK. That is where Mom met our Dad, Arthur Turcotte. They were married on October 25, 1949 and made their home on the family farm near Domremy, moving to Prince Albert in 2000. Mom was a kind and gentle person who could always find the silver lining in any cloud. She always had a smile on her face, and loved to laugh with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who loved to spend time with her family. Mom loved to garden as evidenced by the abundant flowers in her yard each year. She was capable of whipping up a meal fit for a king at the drop of a hat, and no one ever left her home hungry. Mom was not afraid of work, and tackled every job with perfection from sewing a new outfit for herself or another family member, to driving the combine during harvest. There was never a job too big or small. She was predeceased by her husband, Arthur (July 2, 2007); an infant daughter, Diana (October 22, 1951) and her parents, Emile and Leonie Marcotte. Mom was the 2nd oldest of seven, and is also predeceased by her brothers, Oscar (Mildred) Marcotte, and Antonio Marcotte, her sister, Aline (Damien) Gignac and Aline’s second husband, Martin Leitte. Her husband’s sisters and brothers, Zilia (Emile) Lecomte, Yvonne Turcotte, Alice (Alfred) Funke, Ovide Turcotte, Roseanna (Louis) Berard, and Leon (Dorothy) Turcotte. She will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by her sons, Raymond (Linda) of Redcliff, AB, and Lionel (Marlene) of Prince Albert, SK; her daughter, Rita of Prince Albert, SK; her six grandchildren, Bonnie (Martin) Degagne, Rayleen (Marty) Mayer, Kerry (Larry) Toews, Clayton Turcotte, Tiffany (Mike) Cannon, and Travis (Marianne) Turcotte; her nine great granchildren, Riley, Jaden, Samuel, Julia, Rebecca, Devon, Alanna, Austin and Joshua; her brothers, Louis (Helene) Marcotte, Alain (Laurie) Marcotte, Albert(Wendy) Marcotte, and her sister-in law, Margaret Marcotte. Prayer Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday October 25, 2012 with Sister Renée Buliard officiating. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. on Friday October 26, 2012 with Celebrant Reverend Father Mathew Nguyen. Both services will be held at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 260 – 25th Street East, Prince Albert, SK. Interment will be held at Prince Albert Memorial Gardens. In lieu of other tributes, the family would greatly appreciate donations to the Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan, 301 – 2550 – 12th Avenue, Regina, SK S4P 3X1. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.grays.ca. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Grays Funeral Chapel, Marianne Turcotte, Funeral Director
Be at peace our dear sweet Mom. We are comforted in knowing that you are now safely with Dad in Heaven, just in time for what would have been your 63rd wedding anniversary. Your memory and love will always live forever in our hearts.
