It is with great sadness that the family of Ernie Poulin announce his passing in the early morning hours of March 28, 2019 at Mont St. Joseph Care Home with family by his side.
Ernie married Simone Hudon in 1952, and together they raised 6 children. He lived the better part of his life on the family farm south of Prince Albert.
Ernie sold his farmland to Ducks Unlimited when he retired from farming and remained on the acreage until they moved to the city in 2014. When his health deteriorated due to Parkinson’s disease, he moved to care homes, eventually settling in Mont St. Joseph where he resided until his passing.
Those that knew Ernie know he was always the life of the party, playing his guitar, banjo, fiddle or mouth organ while making his little man dance.
He was an active member of the group “Fiddlers and Friends” and entertained at various venues around the city. In the summer months he was active in the Prince Albert Horseshoe Club. He enticed many of his family members and some of his grandchildren to get involved as well, and together they would pack the motorhome and tour the prairies competing in various tournaments.
Ernie is survived by: his loving wife Simone; his children: Louis (Janice) , Allen, Janine (Dave Dubyk), Anita (Cam Macdonald) and Gerald. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren: Alissa Poulin (Greg Ferguson), Marc Poulin (Tanya Umperville), Jon Poulin (Emma Caldow), Ryan Poulin ( Amanda), Chad Poulin, Kevin Poulin (Tia Lavalee), Chrissy (Rob Rogers), David Poulin (Melissa), Michael Dubyk (Janet Andasol), Shane Dubyk (Raelee ), Sheena Dubyk, Jeffrey MacDonald (Stephanie Walton), Shawn Macdonald (Amy), Donovan MacDonald (Hilary Dawson), Michael Poulin (Alexis), and Justin Poulin (Melissa). Ernie is also survived by 20 great- grandchildren as well as one sister: Aurelia (Lucien Bremner).
He was predeceased by: his son: Paul 2014; grandson: Mitchell 2009; siblings and spouses: Wilfred (Helene), Maurice (Aurea), Paul, Beatrice (August Zurowski), and Antoinette (Eugene Beauchesne.
