Born In: Unity, Saskatchewan, Canada
HEIT, Ernie – With great sadness we bid farewell to our beloved Ernie, who quietly passed from this world surrounded by his family at home. Ernie battled brain cancer for the past two years & never once believed that he wouldn't beat it. It was his incredibly strong will & deep love for his family that kept him firmly planted here.
Ernie was well known for many things, especially his expert craftsmanship in the construction industry over the past 35 years. He was loved by so many young athletes as he coached hockey & softball over the years…..and he loved them back. He had a quiet, very reserved way about him….but, as you worked your way into his trust, you had a friend forever. And he would do anything for anybody.
Ernie was born & raised in the Unity area, and met the love of his life, Kathy in 1972. They were married for 35 years & raised two sons.
Left to cherish his memory are: his wife, Kathy; two sons, Mark Heit of Calgary, AB & Jesse Heit of Prince Albert, SK; three brothers, Dave Heit, Pat Heit (Janice), and Dan Heit (Shelly); two sisters, Lynn (Gary) Maze and Rose (George Kramer) Heit; numerous neices, nephews, cousins, aunts & uncles.
He was predeceased by: his father, Lambert Heit; mother, Pauline Heit; brother, Jim Heit; father-in-law, Mike Folk & mother-in-law, Vera Folk.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to The Acquired Brain Injury Group in Prince Albert. Celebration of Life will be held at Gateway Covenant Church, 1500 – 15th St. East, Prince Albert, SK. on Monday, May 30, 2011 at 1:00 PM officiated by Pastor Stacia Michael. Arrangements entrusted to Hawryluk Funeral Home. 922.6611
