Ernest Wilfred Fisher

Ernest Wilfred Fisher better known as “Ernie” was born on Sec.28, Tp.44, Rge.24, W.2 (his parent’s homestead) on August 21, 1909. He passed away on June 12, 2013 at the age of 103 years and 9.5 months. Ernie attended Trombley School along with his two brothers Leonard and Leslie. He completed his grade 8 and then continues working on his parent’s farm until around the age of 23 when he purchased his first quarter of land and started on his farming career. He married Margrette Hanson, from Bonnie Hill, October 31, 1934. They raised five children on their farm located on the South side of Jumping Lake. In 1934, they moved into their new home in Crystal Springs. Ernie continued to farm until his retirement. Ernie was predeceased by his parents: Ernest Sr. & Edith; his wife of 74 years: Margrette; his 2 sons: Maurice and Roy; his grandson: Shawn Welch; his son-in-law: Terry Welch; and his daughter-in-law: Marnee Fisher. Ernie is survived by his son: Wayne (Lois) and family; his 2 daughters: Wanda (Ed) Oleniuk and family and Linda Welch and family; and his daughter-in-law: Judy Fisher and family as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the Birchview nursing home staff for taking care of Ernie. Those willing to make donations in Memory of Ernie may do so to a charity of the donor’s choice.
