Ernest Paul Person
March 2, 1926 – February 26, 2024
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Ernest Paul Person announce his passing on February 26, 2024, at the age of 97 years. Ernest was born in Valbrand, Saskatchewan on March 2, 1926. He was the only child of Peter and Karin Person. He loved the farm, animals, and spending time in the outdoors. Ernest married Louise Isaachsen on August 11, 1954. They lived in Valbrand on the farm where they raised their two children, Murray Paul, and Debra Laurel. Ernest was a kind, gentle loving man. After losing his sight in his 40’s he attended the CNIB where he learned blind craft handiwork. He made many beautiful hampers, magazine racks, waste baskets, and many more crafts. He also learned braille, so he was able to play crib with family and friends. He loved music, he spent many hours playing accordion, jamming with cousins and friends. Ernest and Louise moved to Canwood in 1997 where they spent many hours visiting, playing cards, and old-time dancing. He belonged to the Canwood Seniors Club and was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church. In August 2019 Ernest moved into Whispering Pine Place in Canwood. He readily adjusted to his new surroundings, this becoming his new home. The staff and residents became his second family. It was a source of comfort to his family to see the excellent care and love given to him. The family would at this time like to express their gratitude for the love and care he received.
Ernest is survived by his wife Louise Person of 69 years, daughter Debbie Sten and children, Tyler, Justin (Jamie), Olivia, Kevin (Shelby) Lena and Arnie, daughter-in-law Barb Person and children, Melanie (Gerald) Duret, Amanda (Cody), Keegan (Brooklyn) and Morgan (Josh) Lafond, Tabetha (Mike Bodnarchuk) Ethan, Zander, Londyn, and Lachlan, Afton (Kyle) Danberg, Tucker and Dawson, Jordan (Kendall) Person, Sawyer and Cash and numerous other relatives.
