Elvin Mervin Olson
(May 5, 1928 – December 16, 2011)
Elvin Mervin Olson was born on May 5, 1928 in Brockington, SK. and was the oldest of nine children. He grew up living between his parent's house and his grandparents house, as there were more children there to play with. He took his schooling at the Pine Bluff School until he began working for the farmers in the area. Before long, he met the love of his life, Delsie Hagglund. They were married September 12, 1970 and resided in Melfort for the rest of their days where they raised their two daughters Kelly and Linda.
Elvin worked hard all his life, farming, trucking and working at Smith Hatcheries. He also spent many years hauling wood, water, iron and ice. He never gave up farming, as he enjoyed the country life and being outdoors. Elvin enjoyed berry picking in the pines and always had a big garden full of potatoes. He treasured the time he spent with friends and family, especially his grandkids. No matter what time you came to visit, the coffee was always on.
Elvin is predeceased by his wife Delsie; parents Martin and Hansina; brothers Arnold, Arnie, Lorris & Ronnie; sisters Eleanor & Laurine. Left to mourn are his daughters Kelly (Joe) and Linda (Keith); grandchildren Brandon & Melayna; brother Leroy; sister Beatrice, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, inlaws and one uncle Lloyd Olson.
Funeral service was held Wednesday, December 21, 2011 from the Carrot River Valley Luthearn Church at 2:00 p.m .with Rev. Dawn Myrfield officiating. Interment followed at Carrot River Valley Lutheran Cemetery. Memorial contributions, in memory of Elvin, may be directed to a charity of one's choice.
