Elmer will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him. He grew up on a farm in Michigan and served in the U.S. military, Airborne Division. He married his pen-pal sweetheart, Mildred Cameron and soon after dedicated his life to Christ. While raising his family and working in maintenance and construction, he built most of the homes in which the family lived. In 1966 he felt God wanted him to go to Bible School in Saskatchewan to prepare for the ministry. After graduation, he remained in Canada as a pastor. Later he became a missionary builder which took him all over Canada, the U.S. and to Okinawa. Elmer also worked for the Saskatchewan Highways Department for many years. His favorite recreation was hunting and fishing. He spent most deer hunting seasons at a cabin in Michigan that he and his brothers had built. He enjoyed serving the Lord by helping others. He stayed active in a local church and looked to God for daily guidance. His favorite parting words were, “Keep looking up.” Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 18, 2010 at the Beulah Land Baptist Church (on highway 55 across from the airport) with Pastor Dave Webster officiating. Luncheon will be after the service followed by a graveside service at the Howard Creek Cemetery. In lieu of other tributes, memorial contributions may be made to CBM (Christian Blind Mission), PO Box 800, Stn Main, Stouffville, ON L4A 9Z9. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.grays.ca.
