Elmer Chandler
September 3, 1936 – July 7, 2020
It is with great sadness the family of Elmer announce his peaceful passing on July 7, 2020 at the age of 83 years. Elmer was born in the RM of Birch Hills and grew up on a farm near Brancepeth. He eventually moved to the family farm near Weldon after coming to farm for Elaine’s mom. On December 8, 1959 he married the love of his life, Elaine Prentice, and they enjoyed sixty happy years together. Although Elmer had various jobs throughout the years, he certainly had his favorites which included working as a loader operator, ferry operator, fuel truck operator and of course farming. Elmer loved attending rodeos and horse races, and enjoyed hockey and dancing, most especially community dances. The real joy in his life was his family and spending time with them, his grandkids and great-grandkids, brought him immense happiness. In September of 2019, Elmer moved to Pineview Terrace where he continued to enjoy visits from his family until his passing. Elmer will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Elaine Chandler; his children, Paul (Val) Chandler and Kathleen (Bob) Barrowclough; his grandchildren, Kristen (Cory) Bell, Brody Barrowclough, Andrew Chandler, Zachary Chandler and Shaelynn Chandler; his great-grandchildren, Phoebe Barrowclough-Bell and Hudson Barrowclough-Bell, his sisters, Mae Williams and Debbie (Wayne) Ferland, his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Pete Hnatiw, Donald Prentice, Delmer Prentice and Karen (Wally) Disiewich; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends. Elmer was predeceased by his parents, Lloyd and Jessie (nee Smith) Chandler; his step-mother, Minnie Chandler; his siblings, Dale Chandler, Henry Chandler, Doris Letendre, Albert Smith, and Mary King; his mother and father-in-law, Norman and Helen Prentice, his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jack Williams, Albert Letendre, Raymond King, Albert Rarich, Keith Prentice, Dorothy Chandler, Hilda Smith, Verna Rarich, Grace Plunkett; as well as numerous other family members. Elmer’s legacy is his family and his memory will live on through them. A Memorial Service will be announced at a later date. In lieu of other tributes, donations in memory of Elmer may be made to Rose Hill Cemetery, Box 271, Weldon, SK, S0J 3A0.
