Ellen Berg passed away peacefully at the Victoria Hospital on Friday, June 29, 2012 at the age of 87 years with her cousin by her side. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, July 6 from Birch Hills Lutheran Church. Pastor Sonje Finnestad will officiate. Ellen was the daughter of the late Hans and Annie Berg. She was born on the farm at Brancepeth on September 15, 1924. She was blessed with good health all her life, until recently when her health began to fail. Her love for the land and farming kept her active throughout her entire life. Her memory was very good. The farm was a mixed operation consisting of dairy and beef cattle and lately grain farming. Ellen and her three sisters helped their parents to keep the family farm going. They all had their job to do and God gave them strength to do it; the dairy cattle kept everyone close to home, as it was a morning and evening job. Mother was a very good cook, she said anytime you are hungry, come in and eat. She had something ready at all times. Thank you mother. Ellen never cared to travel, farthest from home was to see her sister Sophie in Alberta, and her last trip was to her sister’s funeral at Tofield, Alberta. She loved her farm and the freedom of living there. God Bless Ellen as she joins her loved ones, who are gone before. Ellen is survived by her nephew Harold (Carol) Johansen, her great-nephews Larry (Belinda) Johansen [their daughter Makenzie] and Paul Johansen; great-great-nephew David’s daughter Alexandra; many relatives and friends, also relatives in Norway. She was predeceased by her father Hans Berg and her mother Annie (Braaten) Berg; her sisters Ida Berg, Sophie Berg Johansen and Mary Berg; her nephew Orvel Johansen; her great-nephew David Johansen in 1995; many relatives and friends. Donations in memory of Ellen may be made to the Lake Park Lutheran Cemetery Fund or to a donation of donor’s choice. Family and friends may send email condolences to www.riverparkfuneral.ca. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care of RIVER PARK MEMORIAL CHAPEL. 764-2727 Don Moriarty and Wayne Timoffee, Funeral Directors
