It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of our “DAD”. He leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and cherished memories that will forever hold a special place in our hearts.
To his children, he had an extraordinary life filled with remarkable achievements and contributions. He believed in continuing to learn and develop his own skills, setting an example for his children to live up to. He was an avid reader, always wanting to share a new joke or two just to see you smile. Dad valued history and the lessons one could learn from the past. Antiques and old tractors were favorites. He enjoyed raising animals: cows and buffalo were enjoyed as much as the many dogs and cats that were always welcome. Together Dad and Mom raised 8 children. Both Mom and Dad had careers outside of the home and so they were “true” partners when it came to us. Dad could rustle up breakfast or supper and find the missing sock as well as Mom could! Dad was a very special person to all of us. Our home was a place of laughter, love, and camaraderie. As the years went by our family expanded with the addition of the first “many foster babies”, and later on, the arrival of grandchildren and great-grandchildren who were equally welcomed with love and pride! Throughout his life, Dad had a special place in his heart for family and home. He lovingly built many homes, each one a testament to his dedication and craftsmanship. Ensuring that his children grew up in a secure and safe environment was of great importance to him, and he selflessly provided them with everything they needed to flourish. Well into his 70s Dad built his last home, a stacked log house. He spent many days hauling the logs from a burned area. It was stunning! And quite the achievement for a man of his age. We should probably mention Dad’s successful careers first as a plumber and then as a pipefitter had him setting up home in many places: Saskatchewan (Saskatoon, Prince Albert, Kindersley, Lanigan), Manitoba, and British Columbia, and finally back to his home province settling around Prince Albert, SK. where he worked at the Pulp Mill as well as trying his hand at farming.
Beyond his many accomplishments, it was his unwavering love and pride for his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren that truly defined him. Dad was never too busy to acknowledge the achievements of all of them. Celebrating their successes with pride. His happiest times were when opportunities arose for a visit or a call with one or all of them! Dad celebrated those times with love and warmth.
As we prepare to say goodbye to Dad, let us carry forward the lessons he taught us. The value of family, remembering your past, the significance of putting your best foot forward, demonstrating gratitude for what you have been able to do and experience in life, making the best out of a difficult situation, and learning the importance of relying on each other!
Dad will fondly be remembered as a devoted husband, a loving father, a caring grandfather, and a good friend to many! His spirit will live on through the laughter of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, the love shared among family members, and the millions of memories that will forever be held close to our hearts!
Rest in eternal peace Dad your spirit will remain a guiding light in our lives forever!
Till we meet again! Your loving Family!
REMEMBER
When I come to the end of my journey
And I travel my last weary mile
Just forget if you can that I ever frowned
And remember only my smile
Forget unkind words I have spoken
Remember some good I have done
Forget that I ever had heartache
And remember I enjoyed life with mom
And all of my kids!
Then forget to grieve for my passing
I would not have you sad for a day
And when the shade of the evening comes
When the sun paints the sky in the west
Stand for a few moments beside me
And remember
I’ll see you again!
