Elaine Mary Berezowski was born in Prince Albert, SK on March 15th, 1950 to Mike and Mary Palidwor. She was their youngest child, having two older sisters, Gloria Esayenko and Zenia Kayln.
Her family moved from Prince Albert to Nipawin shortly after Elaine’s birth. Here, the family began a new venture with Rainbow Bottling Works.
Elaine attended school in Nipawin and graduated from Nipawin Composite High School in 1968. She then moved to Saskatoon to continue her education where she attended Robertson School of Business and Teacher’s College to pursue her childhood dream of becoming a teacher. Her teaching career began in Nipawin at where else but Central School teaching Grade 2. She later returned to Saskatoon and taught at Prince Phillip School and Confederation Park School.
Elaine met her life partner Bob, and they married in 1976. They lived in Saskatoon where they started their family when daughter Michelle was born in 1978. The following year, they moved their small family to Nipawin where they built their “dream home” and expanded their family with the birth of a second daughter, Lana in 1980. Their family was not complete until they welcomed “Ginger”, their much loved dog into their lives.
Elaine loved to garden, and our family enjoyed all the fruits of her labour year-round, as she canned and preserved the harvest. She was a fabulous cook, and she always made room for one more at the table. This generosity included Elaine and Bob opening up their home and welcoming many Hawks players into their family.
Mom’s taxi was very busy chauffeuring the girls to all their activities such as dance, swimming, and wherever else they and their friends needed to go. She spent countless hours driving, watching, and cheering them on all the way.
Her hobbies included various crafts, such as stained-glass stepping stones and scrapbooking. Her favourite pastime was crafting beautiful hand-made cards for family and friends for all occasions. When an occasion was pending, she took great pains to ensure that she made the perfect card. They were beautiful!
Many hours were enjoyed over the years camping, playing cards, visiting, sharing special meals and holidays with family and friends. Thanksgiving walks became an annual event; very special times shared with close friends.
Elaine was the driving force behind the organization of the Nipawin Veselii Ukrainian Dance Group in 1992. She took such pride and enjoyment in bringing this part of the Ukrainian culture to the Nipawin community and watching her daughters learn the dances of her ancestors.
Left to love and cherish her memories are Michelle (Arley), grandsons Riley & Jacob, Lana (Alec) grandchildren AJ, Ksenia & Cameron. She also leaves behind nephews Lorne (Janet) Esayenko, Brian (Susan) Esayenko and niece-in law Amanda Esayenko along with many other nieces and nephews and their families. Her extended family, Sadie Berezowski, Maurice (Joyce) Berezowski, Mariann (Rick) Pender, Boris (Kenna) Berezowski and families. Along with many other near and dear friends.
Elaine will be reunited with her husband Bob, parents Mike and Mary Palidwor, sister and brother-in-law Gloria and Bill Esayenko, nephew Murray (Sharron, Natalie) Esayenko along with several other close family members and friends.
