It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of Eileen. Eileen passed away peacefully at Rosthern Hospital on February 13, 2025, at the age of 85. Eileen was born in Rosthern, SK, to Pete and Gertrude Wall.
Eileen grew up in Waldheim, SK, along with her younger brother Dale. She enjoyed helping her mom at the phone switchboard whenever she could.
When Eileen was 18 years old, she met the love of her life, a young German man from Hague, SK, named John Thiessen. John and Eileen were soon married and began their life journey together. They spent most of their early married life working in Saskatoon, SK. This is also where their 4 children were born, Travis, Bradley, Warren, and Lorelei.
In 1975 they decided to embark on a new adventure. They packed up and moved to Dodsland, SK. and bought a farm. This farm soon became their dream come true. This love led them to moving to Big River, SK, where they could expand their operation. They continued to farm there until John’s sudden passing in 2000. Eileen continued to live in Big River, moving into town where she enjoyed coffeeing with her friends.
Eileen always enjoyed doing her ceramics, curling, and helping on the farm, whether it was taking meals out to the field, running for parts, or shuffling the boys from field to field. She also loved spending as much time as her and John could at their cabin at Sturgeon Lake, SK. She loved it when her kids were all home, and she could spoil her grandchildren.
Eileen leaves behind to forever cherish her memory, her four children, Travis, Bradley, Warren and Lorelei; her grandchildren, Mackenzie, Jordan, Rachel, James, Justin, Brett and Brianne; her great-grandchildren, Holden and Remy; and her brother, Dale. She is predeceased by her husband, John; and her son, Brad (2024).
In keeping with Eileen’s wishes, she will be laid to rest with her husband, John, and their son, Bradley, in Big River at a private family graveside service to be held at a later date.
Rest in peace Grandma, Nana, and Mom… We love you
