Mrs. Eileen Dobson July 3, 1948 – August 2, 2021
With heavy hearts and sadness, we announce the passing of our loving wife, mother and grandmother after a short battle with cancer.
Eileen Agnes Dobson (Banda) was born on the family homestead near Martins Lake, SK. She was the third eldest of 9 brothers and sisters. Eileen met and married the love of her life Bill Dobson while working at the Royal Bank in Leask, SK. Together they had three daughters, Cindy, Connie and Leanne. They moved to the Dobson homestead northeast of Leask where they lived up until her passing. Bill and Eileen celebrated their 50 years on marriage in July 2018.
Managing a family and a successful insurance business kept her very busy until her retirement in 2009.
She was happiest hosting family and friends at home where she would cook and bake, with no one leaving the house hungry or without some homemade buns or delicious treats to take home. Her yard and gardens were bountiful and beautiful allowing many the opportunity to share in the produce and beauty.
Enjoying the great outdoors was a pastime that both Eileen and Bill shared together. When the girls were younger, they would spend many summers at Emerald Lake and later at their cabin at Besnard Lake, SK. There they enjoyed fishing, campfires and the company of many friends and family. When it was time to head back to camp after a long day of fishing she would often say, “just one more tug”.
Eileen loved and adored her three grandchildren, Ken, Emily and Brendan. Countless memories were made of sleepovers and time was spent at the farm together, where anything was possible. Including milkshakes for breakfast.
Survived by her husband of 53 years, Bill Dobson of Leask. Daughters Cindy (Dion) Knorr, and son Brendan, Connie (Ross) Martin, son Ken and daughter Emily (Quinten) and Leanne Dobson (Andrew) stepdaughter Neisa and stepson Dylan.
Siblings Ron (Eleanor) Banda, Gordon (Deb) Banda, Gerri Perrault, Deb (Ken) Hogg and Marlene Banda. In-laws Vi (Richard) Stieb, Carol (Clint) Woolsey, Merle Dobson, Bonnie (Owen) Harbicht, Ray Dobson, Brenda Dobson, Lois Dobson and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents Steve and Lucille Banda, siblings, Ralph Banda, Diane Muller, Herold Banda, and Judy Banda. Parent in-laws Frank and Doris Dobson and in-laws Jim Dobson, Ray Perrault, Iver Muller, Willard Jupe and Joyce Jupe.
The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to all the healthcare workers that provided care to Mom in her last few months and for all the text, calls and messages.
There will be a Memorial Mass held for Eileen on Monday, August 9, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. from the St. Henry’s RC Church in Leask with Father Phong Tran officiating. Following the service, everyone is invited to the Leask Community Hall for a time of lunch and fellowship.
