Chappell, Eileen Ruth (nee Webb) April 20, 1933 – July 14, 2017
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Eileen Chappell on Friday, July 14th, 2017. Eileen will be lovingly remembered by her four sons, Derald (Shirley), Ken (Janet), and Virgil Shewchuk, and Allan Chappell. Her eight grandchidren, Bryan, Dwayne, Brandi, Dylan, Katrina, Carl, Austin and Taylor as well as her 10 great grandchildren, Cole, Braden, Mya, Jack, Owen, Kale, Kamden, Jake, Valla and Mais and one
sister, Roberta (John) Cherwak. She was predeceased by her parents Robert and Ruth Webb as well as her grandson Colin Shewchuk. Eileen was born and raised on a farm south of Elfros, Saskatchewan where she completed high school through correspondence courses. Eileen married and gave birth to 3 sons, Derald, Ken and Virgil Shewchuk. Eileen completed cosmetology courses and operated a hair and barber shop in Bankend for several years and later moved to Regina and owned and operated 2 hair salons in Regina. Eileen remarried in 1968 and gave birth to her fourth son, Allan Chappell. A year later she moved to Shellbrook and owned and operated the Shellbrook Wig and Beauty Salon until she retired at age 78. Eileen was very active in the Shellbrook community. She organized and lead the 4-H Light Horse Club, was active with the Kinettes, K-40, Royal Purple, Golf and Curling Club, and volunteered with many other charitable organizations. Eileen also opened her home to support foster children for 8 years. Eileen was passionate about her beautiful yard and gardens. She loved golfing during the summer and curling during the winter. She belonged to the Senior curling league and participated in many bonspiels. She also enjoyed watching her grandchildren play hockey.
Eileen’s Celebration of Life, will be held on Saturday, July 22nd, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 704 Adamson crescent, Shellbrook with Rev. Emmanuel Aristide officiating.
