Our ray of sunshine, Edward (Sonny) Ted Vandale, late of St. Louis, passed on Friday June 12th, 2026, at the Rose Hospice Garden in Prince Albert at the age of 82 years with family and friends by his side. Sonny enjoyed hunting, gardening, picking berries, barbequing, making head cheese and helping mom with making glissantes, bangs, boulettes, Christmas treats, and taste testing them all in the process. He also loved going to bingo, fostering, visiting family and relatives, volunteering and being active in the Metis nation. His final passion was being a Michif elder for our Community, St. Louis and the Western Region 2. Sonny cherished mom and family, he loved family visits, gatherings, outings and trips. Dad loved the family vacations to Waskesiu, Sunset Bay or Sunnyside, for many summers these were our fond family memories. Dad was born to Marguerite Richard and Joesph Vandale on June 16th, 1943. Sonny and his family lived in Lecoq, Sk till about the age of 13 then they moved to St. Louis, Sk. Sonny attended school at the convent and then St. Louis School. Sonny married Marlene Richard on August 18th, 1967. They had four children, raised a nephew and many foster children who still call dad’s house home.
Dad now watches over from heaven, his children Michelle (Danny), Loretta, Jeffrey (Dayna), his nephew Colin, his foster children Brian (Miranda), Kevin, Cory, Jackie and Shawn. His grandchildren Jayden (Tiana), Jerran (Destiny), Dreton, Tenika, Tanner, and Davian and his one great grandchild Luka Bird and many foster grandchildren. He will also be lovingly remembered by Phyllis (Joe), Denise (Hubert), Sharon, and Russel (Susan). His brother-in-laws Donald (Patsy), Napoleon (Deborah), Roy (Connie), and Raymond, as well as several nieces and nephews and many others who were very dear and special to our dad.
Dad was predeceased by the love of his life Marlene, his great grand children angel baby #1, angel baby #2, his son Clifford, his parents Joseph and Marguerite, his sister Delores (Bill), Brenda (Richard) and his nephew Richard. His wife’s parents, Albert and Eva Richard, his sister in laws Eileen, and Evelyn (Gerry), his brother in laws Clarence, Bently (Corina), and Royale, his sister in laws, Isabelle, and Elsie, his nephews Jayson, Liam, and his niece Priscilla.
Dad you were our angel here on earth, and now you are our angel up in heaven. We love you and we will miss you. Dad has gone home to join Mom and Cliff and we will meet again.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, June 18, 2026 at 11 a.m. at the St. Louis Roman Catholic church with Rev. Fr. Phong Tran as Celebrant. Interment of the Urn will follow in the St. Louis Roman Catholic Cemetery. Memorial donations in honour of Sonny Vandale can be made to St. Louis Roman Catholic Church. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Marc Blondeau of Kushneryk Funeral Service, Wakaw, SK, 1-306-233-4403.
