It is with great sadness that the family of Edward “Ed” Joseph Gates announce his passing. With his family by his side, Ed passed away peacefully on October 7, 2021.
Ed was born on November 12, 1940, at the Holy Family Hospital, in Prince Albert, SK.
During a long bout with cancer over many years, Ed continued to be the fun-loving, caring, special man to so many and never missed a moment to be with family. He was incredibly brave in the face of all the challenges his health presented.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the incredible people at Home Care and the Victoria Hospital.
Ed is lovingly remembered by his wife, companion, and soulmate, Cheryl; his son, Rick and wife Colette; with Ed’s granddaughters, Danielle (Dave – great-grandsons, Henrik and Ford), Jennifer (Anton – great-granddaughter, Olive); his daughter, Denise and partner Dennis; his daughter, Nicole and husband Kelly, and Ed’s first grandson, Zachary; his son, Christopher and wife Kerri; and grandson’s Dylan and Drew; his brother, Denis and wife Jane; and numerous beloved brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews.
Ed was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Denise; his twin brother, Bob and wife Jackie; Cheryl’s parents, Louis and Olive Labelle; and other loved ones he shared his life with.
The Celebration of Ed’s Life will be held at 2:00 p.m., on October 15, 2021, at the River Park Funeral Home, Prince Albert, SK.
