CLOUTHIER – Mr. Edward Leon
1938 – 2011
Mr. Edward Leon Clouthier of Blaine Lake, SK, passed away on Saturday, June 4, 2011 in the Wheatland Lodge Care Home in Leask, SK at the age of 73 years. Edward was born on April 14, 1938 on the family farm west of Blaine Lake, SK. Edward wore many hats, son, brother, uncle, neighbor and friend to many.
Growing up on the farm with twelve other siblings, life was a challenge. There was always an abundance of hard work to be done from wood to cut to gardens to tend. It wasn’t always all work, there were many hours spent visiting, playing cards and sharing laughs with family and friends.
Edward held many different positions including town maintenance man, maintenance man for the seniors housing units, grass cutting at the Church, graveyards and lending a hand to anyone in need. Edward also had so many interests and hobbies. He loved to fish, and was an avid reader and coin collector. He also enjoyed playing pool and tackling puzzles. Many hours were also spent berry picking with family and friends.
Nieces and nephews of Edward all have fond memories of him, whether it was Edward curled up on the couch with his cat reading one of his million pocket books, a trip out to the barn to watch the cows being milked and new baby calves, or a walk to the chicken coop to see the chicks. Edward’s nieces and nephews will remember the time Uncle Eddie spent with them all.
While in the Nursing Home, Edwards’s family learned how strong his faith was and how anyone could turn his day around simply by singing a song and having him sing along. Edward loved music and sang along or tapped his toes every chance he could. Edward truly loved life and enjoyed all it had to offer. He was the kindest man we knew, “Uncle Eddie, goodbye”- “until we have more time”.
Edward will leave to cherish his memory his brothers Andy (Jean) Clouthier of Port Alberni, B.C.; Maurice (Teresa) Clouthier of Marcelin, SK; George Clouthier of Blaine Lake, SK; Raymond Clouthier of Blaine Lake, SK; his sisters Terry (Bob) Hill of Penticton, B.C.; and Stella Clouthier of Prince Albert, SK; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Edward was predeceased by his parents Wilfrid & Anatalie Clouthier; his brothers Joe, Gabe, Leo and Jerry Clouthier; his sisters Jeanne & Cecile.
The Prayer Service for Edward was held on Monday, June 13, 2011 at 7:30 p.m. from the St. Andrews Roman Catholic Church in Blaine Lake, SK with Rev. Fr. Ramel Macapala as celebrant. The Mass of Christian Burial for Edward took place on Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. The eulogy was read by his family, music was performed by Toni Conan, Diana Woytiuk and Vanessa Horner.
