Edward John Beddome, passed away Friday, March 27, 2015 at the age of 88 years. He was born June 25, 1926 at his parent’s home in Red Deer Hill. Ed was the second son of Harry and Dolly Beddome. When Ed was four his mother passed away leaving his father with 3 small boys and an infant daughter. They then all moved in to their Grandparents home for a period and lived with many “aunts”. Ed returned home shortly after his father married Olive Furmston and they soon welcomed a sister Diane. Many stories where told about the time at Grandma’s. They were a close knit family, having many celebrations that brought everyone home. Ed was raised on the family farm and began his own farming career in 1947. While he worked ‘out’ a bit his passion was always the farm and he returned to farm full time as soon as he could. On December 3, 1952 he married Loreen Fahner in Tisdale, SK and they farmed together for over 60 years. Dad loved to farm. He was also very pleased to have continued the family farming tradition and displayed the Century Farm award with pride. He continued to farm his own land into his late 70’s and was a reluctant “retired farmer”. He also enjoyed his sports, playing softball, curling, golf and fishing with family and friends. While he loved to play, he also loved to watch his grandchildren play those same sports just as much. He was very proud that he and his team mates from the 1948 Royal Hilltops Fastball team where inducted into the Prince Albert Sports Hall of Fame in 2013. Dad enjoyed visiting with family and friends. Family was important to him and he looked forward to large family gatherings where you could visit and eat together. He enjoyed visiting and having friends stop by for a card game or two, which was nice along with a cup of tea and his favorite treat, a butter tart. Ed is survived by: his wife Loreen, his children: Garth (Judy) Beddome; their children: Laura Beddome (Shaun Spence), Graham (Megan) Beddome; and great- granddaughter Olivia; Debbie Beddome; Brenda (Dan) Neville, their daughter Callie.
