MRS. EDNA CZYCHOWSKI
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, Edna “Baba” Czychowski on November 27, 2013 at the Victoria Hospital at the age of 90 years. Edna was born in Poland to Fred and Annie Isayew. Mom came to Canada June 8, 1929 at the age of five years along with her two brothers Mike and Nick. While here, two more sisters were born, Helen and Annie. They homesteaded in the Henribourg area then in the Elk Range District. Mom went to Begin School. Through neighbourly visits, she met the love of her life Bill Czychowski, whom she married in November 1941. Unknowingly, Edna and Bill came to Canada on the same ship. They bought a farm East of Hanson’s Hill, where she resided for 62 years. After the passing of Dad, she moved to Prince Albert. Mom loved gardening, growing her vegetables and all her beautiful flowers. Mom’s yard looked like the Butchart Gardens. Mom even won awards for her hard work that she loved. She did endless hours knitting, crocheting, sewing, needlework and ceramics. She spent many hours working functions at the Spruce Home Trail Riders Arena. Mom loved ice fishing in winter and was the fishing lady of the day. Mom’s welcome wagon during harvest was exceptional and enjoyed by all. She was a wonderful cook, creating many delicious meals, even catering out in the middle of the field by the combine, and served on the end gate of the half-ton – bench, tablecloth and all. Edna is survived by her daughter Faye (Julius) Dryka, Maple Ridge, BC; her son Garry (Elsie) Czychowski, Prince Albert, SK; her grandchildren Faye (Don) Hunter, Maple Ridge, Michelle Vickers, Maple Ridge, Cory (Stacey) Czychowski, Prince Albert, Jamie (Susan) Czychowski, Spruce Home; her great-grandchildren Julia and Crystal Vickers, Maple Ridge, Steven (Kerry) Czychowski, Regina, Kristin Czychowski, Prince Albert, Kaymbree Czychowski, Spruce Home; her great-great-granddaughter Milah Czychowski, Regina; her sister Annie McDougald, Kelowna, BC, her brothers-in-law Pat Milligan, Nick (Olga) Czychowski; her many her husband Bill; her parents Fred and Annie Isayew; her in-laws Taras and Helen Czychowski; her brothers Mike, Nick; her sister Helen Milligan; her sisters-in-law Nettie Isayew, Marie Cuthbert; her brothers-in-law Jim McDougald, Russell Moberly; her niece Donna Czychowski. We wish to express our sincere thank you to Dr. Bischoff and all the nurses on Level 5 at the Victoria Hospital for their comforting love and care for Mom and all our family.
