Edith Meeds Child
It is with sadness that the family of Edith announce her passing on December 29, 2013 in Saskatoon, SK at the age of 90 years. Edith is survived by her children: Barry (Gloria) Meeds, David (Mary Leigh) Meeds, Lynne Meeds (daughter-in-law), Colleen (Steve) Wriston, Kevin (Denise) Meeds, Judith (Doug) White, Susan (Sukhy) Kent and Bartley (Linda) Meeds; her 24 grandchildren; her 40 great-grandchildren and her 11 great-great-grandchildren; her sister: Wilna Haugen; as well as many nieces and nephews and a great number of friends. Edith was predeceased by her parents: Harold and Carrie Royce; her sister: Lois Haugen; her husbands: Jack Wilson, Robin Child and Jay Meeds (the father of her children); her daughter: Marilyn Evans; and son: Roger Meeds. Edith was born September 29, 1923 in Santa Cruz, California. As a young child she traveled with her parents and sisters to Saskatchewan and settled on a farm near Prince Albert. She took her schooling in Davis and then high school at PACI. Later she attended Moose Jaw Bible School. Cooking and baking were a large part of her life, excelling at both, as shown by her cooking at church camp and always wanting to make a meal special. She was known to start baking buns late in the evening and her raisin pies could have been prize-winning. Everyone loved her chicken and noodles and you could often see miles of noodles drying in the kitchen. She was an avid picture taker featuring everyone with their birthday cake and making sure she got a picture of every visitor before they left. Family was very important and along with Jay she was always there to assist in raising her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. After a long life of church involvement, volunteering and coffee times with friends in Prince Albert, Edith moved to Riverside Terrace in Saskatoon. A stroke in December 2012 caused a move into special care homes where her smile and loving nature were loved by everyone. A special thank you to Dr. Das for taking such loving care of our mother while in Saskatoon. Cherished visits, prayers and a faith filled atmosphere aided in her peaceful passing on to Heaven. A Funeral Service will be held on January 4, 2014 at 1:00 pm, Cornerstone Free Methodist Church, 2200 15th Ave E, Prince Albert, SK with her Pastor: Daniel Graham officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cornerstone Free Methodist Church, 2200 15th Ave E, Prince Albert, SK S6V 6J5 or Heart and Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan, 279 3rd Ave. N, Saskatoon, SK S7K 2H8.
