Edith was born on December 14, 1911 at home in Speers, SK and passed away on February 28, 2012 at the Herb Bassett Home, Prince Albert, SK. She attended school in Green Bluff, Speers completing her grade 12 in Battleford, and receiving the Governor General award for General Proficiency. Edith was happiest when she was busy, she bowled, played cards and loved to visit with friends and family. She dedicated her time to her church taking different positions in the U.C.W. at Calvary United Church. Edith was a lifelong member of the P.A. Exhibition Association and also volunteered with Red Cross, Canadian Cancer Society (daffodil sales) and 2 Miles 4 Mary. She made and donated over 50 afghans and lap rugs ensuring those in need were always warm. Edith always enjoyed a get together and was especially looking forward to her 100th birthday party which she was able to celebrate at the Calvary Church in December 2011. Edith will be lovingly remembered by her daughters Margaret Henry, Carol (Wes) Stubbs and Evelyn (Rick) Wilson; her son Donald (Marlene) Newell; 13 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren and her sister-in-law Helen Japp. She was predeceased by her husband George Newell; daughter-in-law Yvonne Henry and her siblings. Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 10, 2012 at the Calvary United Church, 114 – 25th Street East, Prince Albert, SK with Reverend Nora Vedress and Reverend Jack Carr officiating.
