Edith Eva Boen passed away on March 5, 2015, at the age of 84 years, with her family by her side. Edith was born July 10, 1930 at Invermay, SK to William and Emily (Wilson) Tilbert. She was one of seven children.
Edith attended Grades 1 – 3 at Heather Bank and Grades 4 – 10 at Okla.
She married Gordon Boen on July 2, 1949 and was blessed with five children. Edith and Gordon settled their family in Melfort, SK in 1955 and Edith lived there for many years.
She was first & foremost a Mother and home maker until she started her career as a cook. Mom enjoyed visiting her Kids & Grandkids, always arriving with everyone’s favourite baked goods.
Mom was always happiest with her hands in the soil, whether indoors or out, everything she grew flourished. She was always ready to dig, plant or harvest in anyone’s yard and always kept a beautiful garden of her own.
Some of Mother’s other favourite past times were; travel & adventures to new places, including Memphis, Alaska, Las Vegas & a one time trip to Toronto to see the Blue Jays play. She always had great stories to tell about the birds she fed & what was at her feeders, especially her beloved hummingbirds. Mom sewed, quilted & knitted gifts for every generation. She loved to read, do puzzles & listen to music. She was an avid Elvis Fan & went to Graceland for her 75th Birthday. Mom cherished all the family pets during her many visits with us. She had a passion for The Toronto Blue Jays & Saskatchewan Roughriders and rarely missed a game on TV.
She was known as Mom or Grandma to all who shared and brought joy to her life and always kept in close contact with them.
The Senior Centre in Marwayne, AB where she lived for several years prior to her passing was a favourite place to enjoy card playing and times of fellowship.
Edith was predeceased by her Parents and youngest Son, Gerald Boen, also predeceased by her Sister Freda Tilbert and Brother Robert Tilbert.
Edith’s Children, Albert Boen, Leslie Boen, Robert Boen and Patricia Boen remain, to mourn her loss. She was respected and loved by 15 Grandchildren and 17 Great Grandchildren.
Siblings left to mourn Edith’s passing are, her Brother Emerson Tilbert and Sisters Laura Scheller, Bernice Langdon and Eileen MacMillan and many nieces and nephews.
Edith, Mom or Grandma, you will be truly missed as the head of our Family. Lovingly Remembered and Forever in our Hearts.
