EDILBERTA SAGABAEN ANCHETA “Mamang”, age 74, passed away last Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at the Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon, SK, Canada. She was born June 29, 1940 in Isabela, Philippines. “13 Then I heard a voice from heaven say, “Write this: Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.” “Yes,” says the Spirit, “they will rest from their labor, for their deeds will follow them.” (Revelation 14:13 NIV). Edilberta “Mamang” Ancheta as we all addressed her, was a true servant of God who lived her life to the fullest. She was loving and compassionate and a very good cook. Many enjoyed her egg rolls and muchiko. She loved God’s Word and has always opened their home for Bible Studies and prayer meetings. She gathered her strength from the authority of God’s word. Everything she did was to glorify God. Her purpose in doing anything, was to do for others. She and husband prayed together daily for family, relatives and friends. It was the simple things around her in life that she never took for granted, commenting daily how fortunate and thankful she was. In 1999, she encouraged her family to start a personal care home (Golden Acres Care Home) in Prince Albert. The residents through the years have always commended her for her hard work, care and good cooking. Above all, “Mamang” was a loving and devoted wife to her husband, Legaspi Flores Ancheta, who loved her so dearly. A loving and generous mother not only to her children Larraine, Jeanmaire, Marlon and their families but to everyone who knew her. She was a mother who always involved herself in every detail of her children’s lives and supported, respected and loved her husband unconditionally. She was a sheer inspiration to the people around her. She was a wife, a mother, a grandmother, a sister and a true friend. She was a woman of strong faith, believing in the power and strength of Jesus Christ’s love and the beauty and peace that would await her after her passing. She has left a fine example of how to live by her words and her actions. Now she can rest in peace. She has now come to the time for which she lived. This is not the end, but the beginning. Our comfort lies in the truth….”Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord.” Yes, “Mamang” has resting to do. But her works will follow in ways that cannot be overlooked. Her presence was a power inspiration, and her memory also! She is survived by her husband Legaspi Ancheta, who loved her so dearly; three children, Larraine (Glenn) Uy, Jeanmaire (Duncan) Lundy, Marlon (Nicole) Ancheta; seven grandchildren, Larissa Uy, Veronica Uy, Joshua Uy, Charis Lundy, Milo Ancheta, Nyja Ancheta and Madison Ancheta; sisters Natalia “Taling” Baysa, Romula “Moling” Follante and Ludivita “Ludy” Macadangdang; brothers Jose “Peping,” Emilio “Jr.” and Danilo “Danny”; two brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law. She was predeceased by her parents Emilio and Dolores Sagabaen; and her first grandson Luis Gabriel Uy, September 10, 1992. A celebration of EDILBERTA ANCHETA’s life will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, March 27 at RIVER PARK MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 301 River Street West by Pastor Willie Santiago. A Memorial Service will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 28 at CROSSROADS PENTECOSTAL ASSEMBLY, 1510 Olive Diefenbaker Drive, Prince Albert with Reverend Ches Jacobs officiating. Interment will take place at Prince Albert Memorial Gardens. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care of Donald M. Moriarty, Funeral Director.
