Ed was raised in Cookson until his mothers passing. He left for B.C. where he worked in lumber camps in winter times while staying with siblings. After the break up, he came back to Cookson, stayed with his sister Alma while working for a local John Deere farmer Schatkoske family for 5 years.
In April 1963 he moved to Prince Albert and started working for John Deere Co. until he retired at 61. He married Annette in July 1963. He was well known salesman to many farmers and had them to thank for the trips he won. Together they enjoyed 2 cruises and a trip to Australia. The staff at John Deere became a second family as they enjoyed Christmas parties, weddings and lots of just fun get togethers.
In 1969 Ed moved a camper trailer to Piprell Lake which remains in the family. There he fished many local lakes and taught his sons all the fishing skills. Fishing was a passion of his.
In the early 70s Ed bought his parents homestead quarter of land from his sister Alma. He kept a small acreage and rented the land to the same local farmer he previously worked for. He grew a great garden every year. In 1984 he bought a half-built cabin at Whelan Bay, with lots of help from his brothers-in-law and friends made it into a home and retired until moving back to Prince Albert in 2020. He had many fishing friends there, loved picking blueberries, and loved socializing and playing cards especially when his sons and grandsons came. Teaching them the tricks of catching lake trout. Ed celebrated life everyday, honouring his wishes there will not be another one.
A private family interment will be held at a later date.
Dear Eddie,
I’m sorry you aren’t here to celebrate our 63rd anniversary on July 6th.
