It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Sidney “Earl” Kennedy on November 19, 2020 at the age of 69. He will be fondly remembered for his great sense of adventure, and creative thinking. Earl worked for more than 40 years at Kin Enterprises where he made many friends. If you ever met him you would know that he was ‘the good-looking brother’. He was always a good sport and would try anything especially after a beer or two. This led him to experience being a cowboy while horseback riding. Earl also enjoyed playing badminton on the farm, going for walks and fishing at the lake. What was important to him and what these activities all have in common, is that he did them with family. He was very proud of announcing to anyone he met, what family member he was with and where they worked. As well, he was always ready to share when he would speak with his special Uncle Ray Plante. If you knew Earl, you would fondly remember all the court cases he won as ‘Perry Mason’. His independent nature allowed him to try for his learners, try to test drive a car and successfully drive a golf cart. Earl was a very charismatic individual and he took every opportunity to flirt with the girls until he met his wife Dixie Gordon. Their marriage was truly unique and everything they did, they did together. When they went shopping, they always bought things in pairs; one for him and one for her. Thank you, Earl, for all these memorable moments that we will hold dear to our hearts.
Earl is survived by his siblings Linda (Henri) Mourot, Brent (Melody) Kennedy, Barry (Sandie) Kennedy, Rachelle (John) Schloegel; sister-in-law Esther (Chris) Kennedy-Mattson and brother-in-law Gary Delorme; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Dixie (Gordon) Kennedy; parents, Edgar and Laura Kennedy; brother, Ivan Kennedy; sister, Gail Delorme; grandparents, Wayne and Jane Mary Kennedy and Alphonse and Germaine Caron.
The family would like to thank all the people in the community who took the time to visit with Earl during his daily walks. Finally, thank you to Dr. M. Parson in Emergency and the staff in the ICU department at the Victoria Hospital.
A private family interment will take place at a later date. In memory of Earl, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke foundation – 1738 Quebec Ave #26, Saskatoon, SK S7K 1V9.
