Dwayne Ballantyne
1967 ~ 2025

The family of Dwayne Ovide Ballantyne are heartbroken to announce his unexpected passing at the young age of 58. He was surrounded by his sisters, son Riley and the mother of three of his children Garri-Lynn. He died peacefully in the ICU on December 12, 2025, at the Vancouver General Hospital. Despite the efforts of the ICU team.

All his life, Dwayne was an incredibly talented artist, he loved playing his guitar, cycling and music. His early life was a tough life, but he endured the struggles and with perseverance with his siblings Dean and Sharon by his side as he continued with life, unfortunately Dean and Sharon went home to our Heavenly Father before him, and they are now once again rejoined.

Dwayne was able to share his life experiences with friends and family and, “make good memories, because those are more valuable than anything.”

Anyone who has been lucky enough to have Dwayne in their lives, will remember the days and nights full of laughter and love. Those valuable memories are a true treasure now.

Dwayne was a kind and loving father and was proud of his children. Leaving too early Dwayne will be remembered with love by his daughters, Tanisha Redwood, Heather Hockley (Cam); his sons, Jesse Big Crow, Josh Hockley, Damian Hockley, Riley Ballantyne and Julian Ballantyne; his grandchildren, Valens, Kaiden and Thaddeus Hockley; his two sisters, Connie (Jay) Yeo and Shirley (Ray) Ballantyne; his brother, Ovide Jr. Michel; his step-siblings; Ronald (Darlene) Michel, Jackie Michel, Mary Jane Michel; and a number of nieces and nephews, and loved ones with close connections that will hold Dwayne in their hearts.

He was predeceased by his parents, Ovide and Nora (née Sewap) Ballantyne; his siblings, Dean Ballantyne and Sharon Ballantyne; his paternal grandparents, Philip Ballantyne and Jane Margaret (Donald) Michel; his maternal grandparents, Horace and Eliza (née Ballantyne) Sewap.

A Life Honoring Gathering to celebrate Dwayne will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at River Park Funeral Home, in Prince Albert, SK, with Margaret Ferchuk officiating. The interment will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at Queens Park Cemetery, in Calgary, AB, at the family plot when the flowers are in bloom.
