Douglas Pidskalny

It is with great sadness that the family of Douglas George Pidskalny announce his sudden passing on October 11, 2018.
Doug was born June 15, 1972 in Regina, SK and lived there until 1983 when the family moved to the Steep Creek area in Saskatchewan. Here Doug attended elementary school at Prince Albert East Central and then went on to graduate from Prince Albert Carlton High School.
After high school Doug enrolled in the Massage Therapy program in Saskatoon, SK and became a Registered Massage Therapist and practiced his therapy both in Edmonton, AB and Prince Albert, SK. Doug moved on and attended SIAST Woodland Campus to study for his Emergency Medical Technician Certificate and then started work at Parkland Ambulance in Prince Albert, SK. Following his short EMT career Doug then studied with Corrections Canada in Saskatoon and started work at the Saskatchewan Federal Penitentiary in Prince Albert where he worked for 18 years. Most recently, Doug was enrolled in the Saskatchewan Polytechnic Addictions Counselling Diploma program in Prince Albert.
Through Doug’s numerous studies, careers and his loving heart he has created a wide circle of wonderful, caring friends whom he truly loved.
Doug enjoyed his pleasures in life to the fullest. He enjoyed nature, the beauty of it and the peace and quiet. He loved hunting, golfing, weight training and travelling. He had a passion for music and a great appreciation for the finer things in life but most of all, good times with good friends.
Doug will be lovingly remembered by his wife/friend Shelley of Prince Albert; his parents Ed and Sharon of Steep Creek; his brother Darcy (Megan) and his two nephews Mason and Hayden from Brisbane, Australia; his mother-in-law Sally Gaudet of Prince Albert; his Aunt Julia Crowder (Lloyd) of Brighton, ON; his aunt Natalia Zakreski (Morris) from Moose Jaw, SK; his uncle Allan Gowen (Pat) from Meath Park, SK; his uncle Randy Gowen (Wanda) of Saskatoon, SK; his sister-in-law Brenda Grenier (Clarence) of Domremy SK; his sister-in-law Joanne Gaudet of Gibson, BC; his sister-in-law Mona Fauchoux (Brad) of Prince Albert, SK; His special friends Holly, Hannah and Ethan Rivet, and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
He was predeceased by his grandparents George and Antonia Pidskalny; his grandparents George and Florence Gowen; his cousin Janice Heisler; his father-in-law Wilf Gaudet.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2:00pm on Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at St Joseph Roman Catholic Church – 260 25th Street East, Prince Albert, SK. with Father Tuyen Vu officiating.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Wounded Warriors Canada https://woundedwarriors.ca/ways-to-give/donation/ to help bring awareness to PTSD and raise funds to help purchase a Service Dog for First Responder and/or Veteran with PTSD.
