WARNER, Allan Douglas – 1935/01/24 – 2023/02/08
Doug was born to Raeburn and Lottie Warner in Kennedy, SK, the youngest of four boys. He married the love of his life Mary Peterson, on November 10, 1955.
Doug was father to Rick, Ron, Neil, Mark, and Tammy – five children who meant the world to him.
Doug was proud to have earned his private pilot’s license in 1967, and worked and lived on the family farm until 1972, when they moved the family to Prince Albert, SK. There, they built a farm implement dealership, as well as a truck hauling business and a heavy equipment dealership specializing in the forestry industry, which operated until 1985.
One of his true joys in life was flying his planes, and he would often jump in the plane and take off to deliver parts to a farmer stuck in their field with a broken-down tractor or combine, even sometimes just giving the parts away. He was always thinking about the other guy, first.
Doug joined A.L. Williams (now publicly traded as Primerica) in 1987, and became a ‘Crusader’. He loved his clients and his colleagues and considered them family.
For the last couple of months of Doug’s life, he was living in the care of staff at the Canwood Whispering Pine Place long-term care facility, where they treated him with respect, dignity, and love, and our family is so grateful to the staff at Canwood for making Dad’s last days so comfortable and pleasant for him. The family would like to request that in lieu of flowers or other gifts, donations can be made in his memory to the Canwood Whispering Pine Place, Box 418, Canwood, SK, S0J 0K0.
Leaving to mourn his passing Mary Warner, Doug’s wife of 67 years, children Rick (Sandy) Warner, Ron Warner, Mark (Charina) Warner and Tammy (Calvin) Barkway, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and numerous nephews, nieces, and friends. Doug was predeceased by his parents Raeburn and Lottie, his brothers Earl, Calvin and Geoff, his son Neil, and his daughter-in-law Shannon (Mark).
A private memorial service will be held at a future date.
